2020 Holiday Giving at Crossfield
You Can Offer Hope to Families in Need
In years past, Crossfield has displayed a Giving Tree as a way for Crossfield families to purchase gifts for families in need during the holidays. The need for holiday assistance is still strong, but we will need to collect these donations differently this year. So, how can you help?
- Purchase a gift card in any amount to Wal-Mart and/or Target.
- Write the amount on the gift card.
- Bring the gift card to Crossfield between 10:00-2:30, 11/18-12/4 (Office will be closed 11/25,26,27)
- Ring the doorbell at Crossfield and someone will bring a box for you to place your gift card in for a contactless drop off.
How to Inspire Kids to Give
It can be challenging for kids to see how donating money is meaningful--especially during a pandemic when it isn’t necessarily safe for families to shop for gifts, provide food to the homeless, etc. A few easy, stay-at-home ways you can provide your children inspiration for giving include:
- Read books about the importance of giving. Some examples include: Those Shoes, The Spiffiest Giant in Town, The Gift Inside the Box, What Is Given from the Heart, or Under the Lemon Moon
- Have a family movie to watch a film that encourages the spirit of giving (after checking commonsensemedia.org, of course). Gandhi, The Ultimate Gift, Pollyanna, Batkid Begins, Pay It Forward or Millions, to name a few.
- After your children feel inspired, you may be able to encourage them to include a few dollars from their own piggy bank to help with holiday giving at Crossfield.
