Fairfax Academy,
Happy belated Veterans Day to those in our community who serve or have served in the military. We salute you and thank you for your service to our country.
We have had three successful weeks of some of our classes returning to the building for in-person sessions. While the numbers are small in each class, it is terrific to have the students' smiling faces back and see our teachers in action with our rising Academy stars. The Academy Team has enjoyed getting to know students more and match faces with names. Thank you to all of our students for following the health protocols while on school grounds.
A few in-person reminders:
- A friendly reminder to complete the required "back to school" paperwork which can be found on our Academy website. You can email the forms Ms. Cate (vmcate@fcps.edu) or have your student submit the paperwork to a staff member when they are in the building. Most importantly, all students must submit a completed Health Screening Commitment Form by their second in-person session. We have hard copies available at the Academy entrances and in all the Academy classrooms, in addition to the online form linked above.
- If your student's bus is late or does not show up within 10 minutes of your scheduled pick up time, please call the Academy office at 703-219-2226 so we may assist you.
- If your student arrives late for any reason, please remember to have them check in at the Academy entrance at Door #10.
Lastly, please consider nominating one or our faculty or staff for the annual Outstanding Employee Awards for FCPS. All the information is linked below.

Nominations are now open for the Outstanding Employee Awards! To submit a nomination for a Fairfax HS Outstanding Employee in one of the categories below, please complete the nomination through this Google form link: HERE You may nominate one employee at our school or multiple employees.
All that is required for a preliminary nomination is a paragraph or two about how this employee demonstrates exceptional work in the criteria for that category. The google form link has more information regarding the criteria and eligibility requirements for each of these awards. The categories are the following:
- Outstanding Teacher
- Outstanding New Teacher
- Outstanding Leader
- Outstanding Professional Employee
- Outstanding Operational Employee
