Justice Newsletter - November 8

A Note from Principal Eck

Dear Justice Families,

Happy Sunday! I hope that you are enjoying this weekend. Just a reminder that Wednesday, November 11th is Veterans Day and we are scheduled for a 2-hour early release (below is our schedule). Our deepest gratitude to our families and staff members in all military branches, past and present. Thank you for your sacrifice and bravery.

Since the beginning of the year, students at Justice High School have been participating in an advisory period on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. The purpose of our advisory period is to assist students with the transition to virtual learning, develop relationships and community, provide social-emotional learning activities, check-in on academic progress, and review and clarify critical information regarding school operations.

Beginning November 16, Mondays will be completely asynchronous. Students will no longer participate in synchronous advisory. Instead, they will be required complete a form to record their attendance for the day.

We will continue to have advisory time on Wednesdays and Fridays as well as our Den Time. Den Time is our targeted time for students needing additional support. Our schedule is as follows:

Wednesday/Friday Advisory Time: 9:45 – 10:15

Wednesday/Friday Den Time: 10:20 – 11:05

As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me or any member of our admin team.

Visual Arts Material Distribution – November 16th!

On November 16 between 1:00 pm and 6:00 pm, we will be distributing a second kit of art materials for students in all of our Visual Arts classes at Justice HS. If your student has any of the teachers listed below, they will have a kit to pick up on November 16th.

  • Mr. Agel
  • Ms. Augustine
  • Mr. Fitzgerald
  • Ms. Martin
  • Ms. Nast
  • Ms. Wallestad

These materials will be distributed from outside of Door 3 (to the far left of the main entrance) at the curb (see image below). Please stay in your car. Students (or parent/guardian) should hold up a piece of paper with the student’s full name (first and last) and ID number.  A staff member will then retrieve the student’s schedule and bring the materials out to the curb for their art class.  We ask that anyone coming to the school wear a mask.

Distribution

Before coming to the school, please ask yourself the health questions below.  If you answer “yes” to any of the questions we will accommodate another way to get your materials.

  1. Do you have a cough and/or sore throat?  (YES/NO)
  2. Have you had a fever in the last 72 hours (3 days)?  (YES/NO)
  3. Do you have any shortness of breath or is it hard for you to breathe?  (YES/NO)
  4. Is anyone in your home ill with a fever or a cough?  (YES/NO)

Tag Day 2020: Virtual Edition

Like so many other things, Tag Day 2020 has been upended by the COVID-19 pandemic and appropriate health safety protocols. This year, rather than walking door-to-door, the Justice High School band, chorus and orchestra students are bringing our show directly to your inbox. Click here: https://bit.ly/JHSTagDay

Please consider making a tax-deductible donation.

Your gift enables the JHS Music Department to fund additional instruments, equipment, special music, software, technical services, and tailored instruction, particularly important in our virtual learning world. Tag Day donations also support live concerts and competitions, as soon as we are allowed to participate.

Please make a donation to KEEP THE MUSIC ALIVE at Justice. Two ways to give:

  • By mail: Send your check (made payable to: Justice High School Band Boosters, Inc.) to PO Box 1640, Falls Church, VA 22041.
  • Online: Visit our new webpage at: https://bit.ly/JHSTagDay. Include your email address to receive a receipt for your tax records.

Now more than ever, our world needs the joy and optimism music engenders. As always, your donation supports ALL JHS Music Programs.

Won’t you please help us to KEEP THE MUSIC ALIVE for our students?
