Teacher Absences

Please help your students complete this attendance slide so they receive credit for attending classes when their teacher is absent.

When teachers are absent for three days or less, they will display the Teacher Absence Notification slide below in their course in Schoology. Students will click on the link and complete the Google form with their name, student ID, class period and teacher. Students should then return to Schoology and complete the asynchronous activity left for them by their teacher.

When teachers are absent for four or more days every attempt will be made to secure a substitute teacher to provide synchronous instruction.

Learning Seminar Overview for the week of 11/9

Next week in Learning Seminar our students will participate in a Veterans Day lesson that was authored by our very own Student Council. Students will learn all about the history of Veterans Day, learn about some of our students and teachers and their connection to those that have served/continue to serve our country. We will also show students some ways they can thank a current veteran as well as ways to get involved to support current programs established to assist veterans. Conversation starter at home: What did you learn about Veterans Day that you weren’t aware of before Wednesday’s lesson? Why do you think we set aside a day to honor those that have served?

Parents of ESOL and AVID students

Twain will be distributing supplies from 1:30 to 5:00 pm on Wednesday, November 11. The following supplies are being distributed:

  • ESOL Students – Notebooks, colored pencils, markers, novels
  • AVID Students – Cornell Notes, agendas

Parents (and students) will park in Twain’s main parking lot, use the crosswalk to approach the school, then proceed to the tables that will be set up outside. There will be teacher volunteers and plenty of signs to help along the way. If weather does not cooperate, we will host the distribution in the cafeteria.

Twain Theatre Receives Superior Rating at VTA Conference

This year, the Virginia Theatre Association (VTA) virtually hosted its annual conference from October 27 – November 1.  As our fall production this year, the Twain full-year Advanced Theatre class created an original performance for the conference.  At the Awards Ceremony on Sunday, November 1, Twain was awarded a Superior rating, a Best Ensemble award, and a Best Actor award for Vika.

We invite you to view the original production here: Twain MS Theatre Arts Fall Production 2020

In this virtual setting, we are not charging a ticket price for our production, however, if you would consider making a donation to the Twain Theatre program instead, we appreciate any amount you are able to give at this time.

We hope to be back on stage soon and the Twain Theatre Department thanks you for your support.
