Monday Teacher Planning Days

Principals have been asked to ensure that classroom teachers and special education teachers have planning time on designated planning Mondays. Each grade level team will contact families to share whether their morning meetings will continue or not.  (These are not required by FCPS.) If special education teachers are providing services on Mondays, we have been asked to collaborate with them to identify a time(s) that the services could be provided Tuesday – Friday.

Note: Related service providers and other non-classroom based, special education staff may continue with the provision of service on Mondays.

Veteran's Day Celebration

In lieu of our traditional Veteran's Day assembly, we are honoring our service members virtually this year!  Each class will be treated to a virtual assembly during their morning meeting on November 11.

New Employment Opportunity in Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS)!

FCPS schools and centers will be hiring classroom monitors to provide in-person classroom assistance for students when a staff member remains virtual.  If you would like more information about the position, please review the job description and qualifications online and apply if interested. Please feel free to share information about this opportunity with anyone else you think may be interested.

p2

Positivity Project

This year, Keene Mill will continue implementing the Positivity Project (P2). P2 is dedicated to empowering America’s youth to build strong relationships and to understand, appreciate, and exemplify the character strengths in us all.

Next week, students will be learning about bravery. Bravery means that you act with mental, moral, or physical strength even when you know things are difficult or scary. Bravery refers to voluntary action in the face of a dangerous circumstance. This strength involves judgment; the brave person must have an understanding of the risks and consequences involved in acting.

KMES Library News

We are pleased to announce that 4th through 6th graders are able to order up to two books for curbside pick-up from our own library!

Here is how it works:

Students put books on hold through the library catalog Destiny Discover. Here are the DIRECTIONS.

On Monday, Mrs. Cleveland will pull the books for students, send them and their parents an e-mail stating that the books are ready for pick-up and giving them a link to a SignUp Genius.

They sign up for a time slot to come and pick up their books at the K&R loop the same Monday or the following Monday between 2:00 and 4:00.

Here is the FAQ document

At this time, students have several options for books:

MackinVia e-books

Ebsco e-books (these are multiuser! Not the easiest thing in the world but I can show you how to search and how to assign in Google Classroom)

Public Library print books (no library card required for FCPS students)

KMES Library print books (Curbside pick-up)

Contact Annalisa Cleveland at amcleveland@fcps.edu if you have questions.
