Woodburn News - November 6, 2020

Early Release Day

Students will be released two hours early on November 11th.  The instructional day will end at 1:45pm.

Dear Woodburn Families,

We have had a successful start to second quarter. Our teachers and staff continue to collaborate to plan meaningful lessons and identify support for each student by name and need.  We hope you have noticed your child participating in targeted small group instruction over the last few weeks.  We are proud of our teacher's efforts to get these groups up and running.

We have enjoyed connecting with many of you during our return to school family meetings and look forward to sharing information about Woodburn's return to in-person learning plan with our upper grade families in the coming weeks.

Enjoy the weekend!

Katy Richman, Principal

Bridget Louder, Assistant Principal

Grab and Go Meals

Our Grab and Go meal bus delivery times will change on Monday, November 9th.  The new times have been shared below.  The change in timing has been made given the need for buses to be available for students returning to in-person learning.  We realize these times are during the instructional day and understand that your child may need to step away from learning to pick up a meal.  Adults are able to pick up meals without their child present and should let bus staff know how many child meals they need.

Starting November 9th Grab and Go meals will include an afternoon snack and dinner meals.

Superhero

We will celebrate our bravery by encouraging students and teachers to dress up as their favorite super hero on Friday, November 13th.  We hope your child will join us and show off their super powers!

Changes to Curbside Library Service for Quarter 2

Due to changes in participation and availability of transportation support, we are pausing the neighborhood bus drop-off service for Quarter 2. There will be no more bus service for library book drop offs until further notice. We will continue the Curbside Library service for pick up at Woodburn.

To request books from Woodburn:

Students may put up to 5 books on hold through the Destiny online library catalog. Students in grades K-2 can log in to Destiny to place books on hold or use the Book Menu to have books selected by the librarian. Click here for the Book Menu.  We must have your hold requests by Wednesday at 5:00 p.m. for Monday pick up. We will check out your hold requests and email both student and parent/guardian to let you know when your books are ready to pick up.

Our curbside library will operate between 12pm to 3:45pm on November 9th, 16th, 23rd and 30th; December 7th and 14th; and January 11th.

PTA Corner

Donate Now to the Wildcat Direct Donation Campaign!

The PTA funds an important array of enriching programs and events that benefit our children, school, and community. Due to the circumstances related to COVID-19, the Woodburn PTA decreased our budget this year and decided to forego multiple fundraisers in favor of a Direct Donation Fundraising Campaign.

Our fundraisers support teacher classroom grants and appreciation, enrichment programming, and social activities. This campaign is the PTA’s primary fundraiser and requests a one-time monetary donation rather than asking our community to sell items.

The only other fundraisers planned for the year are spirit wear, limited restaurant take out nights, and passive fundraising (e.g. Amazon Smile or Box Tops). Direct donations allow 100% of contributions to go directly to the PTA, and are tax-deductible.

Our goal is to raise $12,000 to support PTA programming.

Donate now and we won’t ask you again!
