Online Instruction or In-Person Instruction

We will honor the choice you made in the FCPS July survey to determine the setting for instruction. If you chose in-person instruction, we will assume your student(s) will return to in-person instruction. If you chose all-virtual instruction, we will assume you will continue in that format. If your circumstances have changed, please go to this enrollment link and update your choice by
11:00 p.m. tonight, Oct. 30th
, and we will do our best to accommodate your request based on the availability of staff and space.

View your Student’s Return to School Status

Parents can review their original return to school selection (made before FCPS pivoted to “All Virtual”) through their SIS ParentVUE account.

To review, Parents will log in to their parent account, click on “student info,” and scroll down near the bottom to “Return to School Responses.”

"Go Paperless" for Online Progress Reports

The “Go Paperless” option is now available to all our parents to allow you to receive only online progress reports starting the first quarter of this school year. This will not impact any other mailings from FCPS other than the progress reports. To take advantage of the paperless options, you will need to log into ParentVUE, then click on “My Account” in the upper right hand corner and select "Go Paperless."
Each parent who has a ParentVUE account must select the paperless option to prevent mailing of the printed progress reports. The “Go Paperless” option will apply to all their students, no matter what school level. If the parent has already selected “Go Paperless” for their secondary student, the option will now apply to any ES siblings as well.

Veterans Day Celebration

In lieu of our traditional Veterans Day Celebration, we will honoring our service members virtually this year. Typically we have students create a "Thank Your Service Member Note."
This year, we will be creating short videos of thanks. This is totally voluntary.  If you would like to have your child honor your family's service member, please complete a FlipGrid clip below.
Please not these videos will be shared publicly in our News You Choose for families at Hunt Valley to view. When making your video, it is best to write down your thoughts ahead of time.
Please Complete the video by Nov. 5th

Some guiding information to include in your child's/children's video:
Student Name
Grade & Teacher
Service Member's Name & Relationship to the Student
When and where did your Service Member serve
Show a closeup picture of your Service Member

We will update you on the Veterans Day Celebration Virtual Event next week!

Parental Consent for Select Digital Resources

At Hunt Valley our teachers will use a variety of digital resources to support student learning and promote communication and collaboration with students and families. Some of the digital resources your child may use this year will require your consent before they can be used. You can find our school’s list of the resources that require parental consent here: Parent Consent

Included on this page is also a link to a form where the enrolling parent or guardian will need to indicate whether or not their student is allowed to use the list of digital resources this year. This page also provides more information about how FCPS carefully reviews digital resources for approval and why we must request your consent before using certain tools. We encourage you to complete the parental consent now as your child will not be able to use the digital resources until we have received your permission. Please reach out to the classroom teacher if you have questions or concerns about the digital resources we’ve chosen to use this year.

Reminder for Parents/Guardians about SIS ParentVUE

This year more than ever, SIS ParentVUE (PVUE) is an essential tool for parents/guardians to keep up with their student’s attendance, progress report cards, and more. This will be the first quarter that we have offered a PDF version of the progress report and ES parents/guardians now have the option to “Go Paperless” for all report cards and progress reports. We want to start establishing the PVUE habit early with ES school parents/guardians. At the end of last school year, we reached a high of 80% of FCPS students with at least one parent/guardian with a PVUE account. We want to keep those account numbers and the usage going up so we can rely on it as a communication tool with parents/guardians.

Please access PVUE periodically to check in on your student(s) attendance and to view progress reports at the end of each quarter.  If you have not yet created a PVUE account, please do so by reaching out to the school SIA to provide an activation code. Details on what can be found in PVUE and how to activate a new PVUE account using your activation code can be found here - Student Information System - SIS Parent Account Overview

Tech Support for Parents and Students

To support families who are working with their children during distance learning, FCPS has launched a new Parent Technology Help Desk, effective Monday, August 24. The help desk can be reached at 833-921-3277 (833-921-FCPS) and will be answered by staff members between 7 a.m. and 11 p.m., seven days a week.

Parents or guardians can call this number for basic tech support with parent accounts, help with FCPS student devices and technical assistance with other FCPS applications. If help desk staff members are unable to solve the issue, they will enter a support ticket on behalf of the parent/guardian to escalate the issue to the appropriate FCPS team. Parents who need help in a language other than English can inform the help desk staff when they call of their preferred language, and an interpreter will join in on the call.

FCPS has also set up Parent and Student Technology Support portal at https://itweb.fcps.edu/itsupport/ to allow older students and parents/guardians to request technology help directly. When a support request ticket is entered through the portal, it is auto-routed to the TSSpec at the appropriate site to expedite service.

Curbside Checkout

Curbside Checkout is our way of getting the Hunt Valley ES library books into the hands of readers.  It is completely voluntary and is a service to the students and families of Hunt Valley.  We are open on November 2nd.

 Three steps:

  1. Pick your book(s).  If you know what you want, put the books on hold in Destiny (the library catalog).  If you need some advice or aren’t quite sure the titles you’re wanting, use the Google Form to get assistance from the librarians.
  2. Pick your time.  Pick a time that works for your family on the SignUp Genius.  If it’s after 3pm on Friday – pick a time on the FOLLOWING Monday.
  3. Pick up your books. Monday, Hunt Valley ES (door 8), between 2pm and 6pm

Have a question?  Please email your librarian at crbartlett@fcps.edu.

First Chapter Fridays

Celebrate the end of the week by experiencing the first chapter of a book.  Check the HVES Library Google Site for this week’s First Chapter Friday. (You’ll need to be logged in to your fcpsschools.net account.) This week's chapter is from Wings of Fire: The Dragonet Prophecy by Tui T. Sutherland, recorded with permission from Scholastic.  (Book 14 comes out March 2021 – get reading now to be ready!)

Check Destiny for more Wings of Fire books today!
