FHES Q&A Recording

Return to School Q&A

Good afternoon Freedom Hill families,

Today we held a Town Hall Q&A for families with questions about their choice between in-person and virtual instruction. If you weren't able to make it, you are able to watch the recording of the presentation and Q&A session here

In addition, families can access the return to school slides that were presented in English and Spanish

In previous newsletters, families received a message including a link to update their preference for location of learning for their Freedom Hill child(ren). The deadline for this submission is Friday, October 30. We are asking parents to use the link if they desire to change their choice that was originally made over the summer. Options are 2x per week in-person instruction with 2x per week virtual instruction (Groups A/B in the picture above) or all-virtual instruction (Group C above). In some situations, students from all three groups will be attending class together through our concurrent model.

We appreciate your responsiveness to the survey this week and look forward to beginning the class placement and master scheduling process next week.

 ~ Dr. Z.

Additional Updates

The FCPS Family Guide for Return to School has a wealth of information on topics like concurrent instruction, lunch, the mandatory mask policy, recess, laptops, health protocols, and more.

Return to School Options

All families continue to have the option to remain virtual for the remainder of the school year. Freedom Hill staff will be using your preference from the summer unless you update your choice on or before October 30, 2020. Once your selection is made, you should expect to commit to that format for the duration of the school year in order to prevent further classroom assignment/teacher changes for our children.

Teacher Selection

We are not able to share which teachers will be in person and which teachers will be virtual. The reason for this is that the number of teachers in each setting is determined by family selection. We will make every effort to keep children with their current teacher if they are in the same environment.

Health Metrics and Contract Tracing

Freedom Hill is committed to the safety of our students, staff, and community. We will strictly follow all FHD and FCPS health guidelines and protocols. This includes, but is not limited to, 6ft social distance where possible, hand washing, limiting contact, temperature checks, and proper use of PPE. If you have questions, the Return to School Health and Safety Guidance document may support you.
