Terra Centre Updates 10-23-20

Terra Centre Families,

We welcomed back our youngest learners this week in our preschool program! It was such a joy to see children back in the building! Our preschool team worked tirelessly to prepare for their return. Check out the team picture below!

Now that students are back in the building, please remember that school grounds are closed to the community during the school day from 8:30 – 4:00. As it’s always been during the school day, the fields, playgrounds, blacktop, picnic tables, etc. are closed to the community during school.

TC Spirit Week is next week! Scroll down for details. We also have details about our next library distribution.  Be sure to reserve your books this weekend for the next distribution on November 2!

Have a fantastic fall weekend!

Library to Go

A message from our Librarian, Ms. Petruzzellis:

Hi TC Families!

It was excellent seeing some of you for book pickup on 10/19. After running the program for the first week and getting an idea of how long it takes to manage this kind of program for hundreds of students, I came to the decision to run the program approximately every other week instead of every week. The main issue was not having enough time after the holds were placed to pull and prepare the books and bags, while still maintaining my regular schedule of going into classrooms and doing lessons with every grade level.  We are going to try out the schedule below which allows for 1 week in between when holds are due and when pickup occurs to prepare all the books. We ask that Kindergarteners do not request specific books, but rather continue to participate in our Mystery Bag program. Your help with sticking to these hold windows will greatly impact our ability to continue to run this great program!

As a reminder, instructions on how to request books online for grades 1-6 can be found here: https://youtu.be/JO-Hbn_IC5I.    To sign up for the Kindergarten Mystery Bag program, click https://forms.gle/QCPoZydvYxhfYDhY6.

Thank you,

Ms. Allison Petruzzellis

Paperless Report Cards

Paperless Report Cards in SIS ParentVUE!

With the approaching end of the 1st quarter, you have the option to “Go Paperless” which will allow parents to receive online progress reports/report cards.

To take advantage of the paperless options, parents and/or guardians will need to log into ParentVUE, then go to “My Account” and select "Go Paperless."

  • All parents and/or guardians who live with the student and share the same address must have a SIS ParentVUE account and must select the paperless option to prevent mailing of the printed progress reports.
  • The “Go Paperless” option will apply to all their associated students, no matter what school level.
  • If the associated parent and/or guardian has already selected “Go Paperless” for their secondary student, the option will now apply to any ES siblings as well.

Parents/guardians are encouraged to access PVUE periodically to check in on their student(s)’ attendance and to view progress reports at the end of each quarter.

If you have not yet created a ParentVue account, please contact our SIA, Dee Cunningham, at dmcunningham@fcps.edu. She can provide you with an activation code. Details on what can be found in ParentVUE and how to activate a new ParentVUE account using the activation code can be found here - Student Information System - SIS Parent Account Overview
