fall leaves

Dear Poplar Tree Families,

Happy Friday! We hope you had a great week. We enjoyed welcoming some of our preschool students back into the building this week. And, we look forward to the return of some of our students in the multi-aged classrooms next week. It was exciting to hear students laughing and engaging in learning in-person. And, we look forward to welcoming more students back into the building over the coming weeks.

We have stated many times this is an unusual school year and one in which we have needed to rethink almost everything that we do. One of our most treasured Poplar Tree traditions is the Veteran's Day celebration. We feel it is important to continue this tradition and to honor those that serve or have served in the military. Below you will find information about the celebration.

Stay safe, healthy, and have a wonderful weekend!

Veterans Day

PTES Celebrates our Veterans

Each year Poplar Tree celebrates our Veterans and we want to continue the tradition this year. While we will not be able to hold our in-person celebration, we will celebrate virtually!

📸 Photo Slideshow

To honor our students’ military family members who have been or who are currently deployed overseas or serving in the military, we will be putting together a photo slideshow. If you have someone in your family that you would like to be a part of this, please complete THIS FORM with the Veteran's information, student(s) information, and a photo. You will have to have a Google account to share your photo on this form, so if you do not have one, you can send the photo via email to Leslie Leisey at lfleisey@fcps.edu.

🗣️ Guest Speaker Videos

We usually have some wonderful guest speakers join us and the students love hearing about the experiences of our military family members! If you are currently serving or have served in the military, we would love to be inspired by you! If you would like to be a guest speaker, please create a video for us! To participate, please add your video to THIS FLIPGRID. The guest password is Veterans2021. Need help with any of this? Contact Leslie Leisey at lfleisey@fcps.edu.

👉 Please know that all of this will be shared in our classes on Veteran's Day, and also sent to the Poplar Tree community via a News You Choose Message that morning, so they will be available to the public.

We look forward to honoring all of our Veterans!

tech help

Tech Help Info

We know that as we move through Virtual Learning, technology issues arise. If you're having trouble with your FCPS laptop, here's a few things to try:

  1. Restart your computer! (We have found that this solves MANY of our problems - including those microphone, camera, and sound issues!)
  2. Visit this webpage to checkout some self-help guides!
  3. FCPS has launched a new Parent Technology Help Desk. The help desk can be reached at 833-921-3277 (833-921-FCPS) and will be answered by staff members between 7 a.m. and 11 p.m., seven days a week.
  4. If you still cannot get your laptop working, students and/or parents can submit an IT support ticket to get help with district digital resources or your FCPS issued laptop.  Find the portal here.

As tickets are received, we will be getting to them as quickly as we can. Our Technology Support Specialist (TSSpec), who troubleshoots our technology issues is with us 2.5 days per week. Please know that everyone is working very hard and being as responsive as humanly possible.

We appreciate everyone's patience and understanding!
