Learning Seminar Overview for the week of October 19
Next week in Learning Seminar we will be discussing Culture. We have made community building a focus within our Learning Seminar classes and as such, we believe we are creating a culture of caring and understanding during 4th period. But the word culture is used a lot and some may not be aware of all that the word entails. We challenge students to explore culture more thoroughly on Wednesday and we finish our lessons by creating and sharing culture collages.
Conversation starter at home: What makes up your family’s culture? What are the foods, languages, traditions, values, and stories that make your family unique? On Friday, we will discuss Hispanic Heritage (the 30 days celebrating Hispanic Heritage ran from September 15th - October 15th). Students will learn all about the valuable contributions of people like Roberto Clemente, Sonia Sotomayor, Cesar Chavez, and Lin Manuel Miranda. Students will conclude the lesson by learning all about some countries in Central and South America.
