Square 1

Don't Forget to Place Your Square 1 Art Order!

These make great holiday gifts.

Wouldn't you love to share your child's artwork with family and friends? As a bonus, every order profits our school.

Just follow these 3 Simple Steps:

  1. Your child creates art. Art Creation instructions will be provided by Mrs. Muha.
  2. Take a photo of your child's art with your phone or tablet and upload the art online at square1art.com/shop/upload
  3. If you would prefer to have your student's art mailed instead of uploading it, you may do so by dropping it off at Crossfield in the designated box outside of the main entrance. Art collection days will be through Friday, October 23. Be sure to include your child's first and last name, grade and teacher.  This is strictly for the fundraiser - not for your student to turn in to Mrs. Muha for their grade.

There is also a Parent Portal which walks you through each step of the way and includes tips on how to take the best picture.

The deadline for uploading your student's art and ordering products is November 18th.

Please email Pam Liercke at pliercke@yahoo.com with any questions.

Paperless Progress Report Option

Starting the 1st quarter of the 2020/2021 school year, elementary school parents have the option to "Go Paperless" and only receive online progress reports. Going paperless for progress reports will not impact any other mailings from FCPS. To take advantage of the paperless option, parents/guardians will need to log into ParentVue, then go to “My Account” and select “Go Paperless.”

  • All parents/guardians who live with the student and share the same address must have a SIS ParentVue account and must select the paperless option to prevent mailing of the printed progress reports. The “Go Paperless” option will apply to all of your associated students, no matter what the school level.
  • If the associated parent and/or guardian has already selected "Go Paperless" for their secondary student, the option will now apply to any elementary school siblings as well.

Laptop

Is Your FCPS Laptop Running Slow or Having Connectivity Issues?

  • It is important to RESTART your FCPS laptop daily. If possible, go to an FCPS site once each week or every other week, log in and restart your laptop twice. Doing this at an FCPS location on the FCPS network allows your computer to get valuable and necessary updates. Most high and middle schools have internet reception in the their parking lots which allows you to get these updates without leaving your car. At Crossfield you will need to sit on the bench in front of the school to get internet connection.
  • More help for troubleshooting other issues you may experience can be found on FCPS’s website: Tech Support for Families. It may behoove students to bookmark this site, as it will help solve most common problems. Obviously we want our students to have the best experience possible in this virtual environment!

Contribute to OHS Band's Virtual Tag Day

  • This year, even though our performances are on hold, our band will march on! In place of our regular door to door donation collections, Oakton Band is holding a Virtual Tag Day, taking donations online and by mail through October. If you have already donated, thank you!
  • We understand that many families in our community have been deeply changed by current events and cannot support us with the generosity of years’ past. However, if you are able to give, the band needs your support more than ever this year. This year, band students are fundraising toward instruments, equipment, repairs, specialized instructors, student leadership training and band community events.
  • Go to: OHSTAGDAY.ORG to support the Band Boosters. Or mail a check payable and to the attention of:  BBOHS at 2900 Sutton Road, Vienna 22181

IMPORTANT

Student Rights & Responsibilities

Please review the Student Rights and Responsibilities (SR&R) and related resources at www.fcps.edu/srr. After reviewing the information, complete the SR&R Parent Acknowledgement Form using this link.

Please note: The form must be filled out one time per student.

Parent Consent Form For Select Digital Resources

At Crossfield ES, our teachers will use a variety of digital resources to support student learning and promote communication with students and families. Some of the digital resources your child may use this year will require your consent before they can be used. You can find Crossfield's list of the resources that require parental consent here.

On this page is also a link to a form where the enrolling parent or guardian will need to indicate whether or not their student is allowed to use the list of digital resources this year. This page also provides more information about how FCPS carefully reviews digital resources for approval, and why we must request your consent before using certain tools. We encourage you to complete the parental consent form as soon as possible, as your child will not be able to use these resources until we have received permission.

If you have questions about how these resources will be used with your student, please contact your student's teacher.
