Parent Office Hours on Monday, October 5

Parents and families will have the opportunity to meet teachers virtually during our Parent Office Hours on Monday, October 5 from 12:30 PM - 2:00 PM. These are open sessions, so only general questions about the course, content, instructional and grading practices, attendance and make-up policies, curriculum resources may be answered during this time. Questions specific to a particular student may be addressed through individual conferences arranged directly with the teacher or through the student’s counselor. Families will be emailed links prior to the event.

Elective Materials Distribution on Monday, September 28

Students and families in the classes listed below are invited to our second materials distribution on Monday, September 28 from 11:30 AM - 2:00 PM. This drive-through process is an opportunity to visit the school to gather instructional materials that are not available in a digital format and to see some of our staff members.

Our FMS teachers will offer curbside pick-up of purchased supplies for the following classes:

  • Art
  • Engineering
  • Family and Consumer Sciences (FACS)
  • Read 180
  • Band and Orchestra (school and county instrument rentals only)

Distribution procedures will be as follows:

  • Social distancing guidelines will be in effect and please review the health screening questions found here before visiting FMS.
  • Vehicles will enter the Kiss ‘n’ Ride lot and proceed to the electives stations, located in the bus loop, for their student materials.
  • Families and students will stay in their vehicle.
  • Whenever possible, teachers will place student supply kits in the trunk of the vehicle.
  • Vehicles will exit the bus loop near Old Dairy Road.

For Art, Engineering, and FACS, supplies are part of a student fee included in course enrollment. More information on payment of student fees will be delivered at a later date.

Franklin MS will make all reasonable modifications to policies and programs to ensure that people with disabilities have an equal opportunity to enjoy all of its programs, services, and activities.  Anyone who requires an auxiliary aid or service to facilitate the pickup of materials should contact Mr. Gibbs (ragibbs@fcps.edu) as soon as possible.

Virtual Parent Coffees with the FMS Leadership Team

We are committed to communicating key updates, important information, and resources that families can use to support their students. One of the ways we will continue to do this is to offer monthly Virtual Parent Coffees with the FMS Leadership Team. These virtual sessions may feature one or two main agenda items or updates, but they will be primarily dedicated to addressing questions and concerns from our families. The Virtual Parent Coffees will take place on the dates below and links will be sent out prior to the event.

October 21 at 4:00 PM

November 18 at 4:00 PM

December 9 at 4:00 PM

SR&R Parent Acknowledgement Form

Each year, parents and guardians are requested to complete and return a Parent and/or Guardian Signature Sheet to acknowledge receipt of the Student Rights & Responsibilities: A Guide for Families booklet. This year, parents and guardians will need to review the Student Rights and Responsibilities and related resources electronically at www.fcps.edu/srr. After reviewing the information, please fill out the SR&R Parent Acknowledgement Form using this link. The form must be filled out one time per student. If you have any questions feel free to reach out to Dr. Zena Chapman (zichapman@fcps.edu).

Franklin MS After School Program

FMS Virtual After-School activities began last week. Please see the schedule below for the After-School Schedule. Students can find more information about the After-School Program in their grade-level Google Classroom and this video will help your student learn how to sign-up for after-school activities. If you have any questions about the After-School Program, please feel free to contact Mrs. Mollé (cemolle@fcps.edu).

After-School Activities – Monday, September 28 – Friday, October 2

“Go Paperless” Report Card Option

Parents and/or guardians may opt to “Go Paperless” in ParentVUE and receive only online report cards. This will not impact any other mailings from FCPS other than the report cards for secondary students and progress reports for ES students. To take advantage of the paperless options, parents and/or guardians will need to log into ParentVUE, then go to “My Account” and select "Go Paperless". All parents who live with the student and share the same address must have a SIS ParentVUE account and must select the paperless option to prevent mailing of the printed report cards. The “Go Paperless” option will apply to all their associated students, no matter what school level.
