Teacher-Parent Check-In Phone Calls

Since we are beginning the school year 100% virtually, Sangster teachers are beginning to make short (5-10 minute) check-in phone calls with parents every two weeks.  The purpose is to have a quick and personal conversation about your child as we are building relationships with you and your child(ren).   Many of our teachers are beginning to schedule the calls.  Since teachers are making these calls to every parent, you will not be receiving interim reports this quarter.

Elementary Progress Reports - Go Paperless

The “Go Paperless” option is now available to all elementary school parents to allow parents to only receive online progress reports starting the first quarter of School Year 2020-21. Choosing this option will not impact any mailings from FCPS other than the progress reports for elementary school students and report cards for secondary students.

To take advantage of the paperless options, parents and/or guardians must log into ParentVUE, then go to “My Account” and select "Go Paperless".  All parents and/or guardians who live with the student and share the same address must have a SIS ParentVUE account and must select the paperless option to prevent mailing of the printed progress reports.

The “Go Paperless” option will apply to all associated students, no matter what school level. If the associated parent and/or guardian has already selected “Go Paperless” for their secondary student, the option will now apply to any elementary school siblings as well.

If you do not have a ParentVue Account, please contact our Registrar Marian Hoelscher at mthoelscher@fcps.edu

Positivity Project

This year, Sangster will continue implementing the Positivity Project(P2). P2 is dedicated to empowering America’s youth to build strong relationships and to understand, appreciate, and exemplify the character strengths in us all. Every 1-2 weeks, students learn about a new character strength.

It is easier than ever for Sangster families to access P2 resources this year! The site P2 For Families is available for connecting P2 to your home and you can learn more about the site here. Many of the slides are password protected and the password is P2 (case-sensitive).

Positivity Project - Week of September 20

This week’s character strength is Curiosity. You demonstrate this strength when you like exploration and discovery. You ask lots of questions because you want to learn more about anything and everything. Curiosity is a crucial component of one's character. Our innate urge for discovery and exploration is a key element of our human desire for wisdom and knowledge. It’s what keeps us intrigued in the plotlines of movies and books. It’s what pushes us to try new activities or travel to different places.

Next week’s character strength: Teamwork
