iReady Testing for Students in Grades K - 6

What is iReady?

The Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) School Board adopted a universal screener assessment for use with all elementary school students in kindergarten through grade 6. The universal screener assessment includes a reading test and a mathematics test. Students in kindergarten will receive screening for reading only. Students in grades 1-6 will receive screening for both mathematics and reading.

The purpose of this assessment is to identify students who may have gaps in foundational literacy and mathematics skills. Testing dates for each grade level are listed below.

What will it look like for my child?

Some questions on the tests will be hard for students while others will be easy. Parents should not help students with items that are challenging, but they can encourage students to do their best and to choose the answer that they think is best. Parents can help students find a quiet place to work, and students are welcome to take breaks as needed.

Where can I get more information?
