Louise Archer Sunshine News 9-25-20

From the Principal's Desk:

We have had a busy week at Louise Archer! We coordinated our first library book pickup on Monday for students in grades 4-6. Next Monday, we will offer a book pickup for grades K-3. Please refer to the library information that you received from the Library to explain the process for requesting books and the days/times for pickup. We want everyone reading, so please take advantage of this opportunity!

Last night, we hosted our first virtual Back to School Night. Thank you to all the parents who were able to join the sessions and hear from our staff about this school year. If you were not able to attend, look for information from your child's teacher regarding the recording of the session for you to view at your convenience. As a reminder, the Hunter Mill School Board Representative, Melanie Merin, and our At-Large members have messages on our school website for you to view as well. Thank you for staying engaged, connected, and informed regarding happenings in FCPS and Louise Archer.

"Go Paperless" Progress Report Option Now Available

The “Go Paperless” option is now available to all ES parents to allow them to only receive online progress reports starting the first quarter of SY 20/21. This will not impact any other mailings from FCPS other than the progress reports for ES students and report cards for secondary students. To take advantage of the paperless options, parents and/or guardians will need to log into ParentVUE, then go to “My Account” and select "Go Paperless" All parents and/or guardians who live with the student and share the same address must have a SIS ParentVUE account and must select the paperless option to prevent mailing of the printed progress reports. The “Go Paperless” option will apply to all their associated students, no matter what school level. If the associated parent and/or guardian has already selected “Go Paperless” for their secondary student, the option will now apply to any ES siblings as well.

Parent Consent for Select Digital Resources

At Louise Archer, our teachers will use a variety of digital resources to support student learning and promote communication and collaboration with students and families. Some of the digital resources your child may use this year will require your consent before they can be used. You can find our school’s list of the resources that require parental consent here.

Included on this page is also a link to a form where the enrolling parent or guardian will need to indicate whether or not their student is allowed to use the list of digital resources this year. Please reach out to your child’s classroom teacher or our SBTS, Chris Jacobs, if you have questions or concerns about the digital resources we’ve chosen to use this year.
