The Bobcat Book Bus officially starts this Monday, September 28th! The buses will leave Pine Spring at 11:45 AM to drop books off at each bus stop. We are asking students to go to their AM bus stop at 12:00PM. The bus driver will call your child's name and your child will get the books that were picked just for them.
The bus will come again on October 12th. At that time, we ask that your child return the books. If they return their books, they will get a new set of books to borrow.
We will run the Bobcat Book Bus the second and fourth Monday of each month.
If you are a walker, you can come to the school between 11:30AM-12:30PM on the Book Bus Mondays to pick-up your books.
The online iReady assessment (also known as the Universal Screener) provides an initial view of all students’ foundational skills to help teachers identify students who may have challenges in reading or mathematics. Students in grades K-6 will take the iReady reading assessment. Students in grades 1-6 will take the iReady mathematics assessment. More information about the assessment can be found on the FCPS Universal Screener Parent Notification webpage. Here is a video introducing iReady Assessment at Home.
This fall, students will take iReady at home. Here is a video for guidance for families administering iReady from home. There is also a checklist.
Teachers will discuss the assessment with students in advance, including how to log in and what to expect. Resources to help families administer the assessment at home can be found on the FCPS Universal Screener webpage. Please keep in mind that this assessment is to be done independently, as the information will allow our teachers in being able to best plan for your child’s individualized instruction. For questions, please contact your child’s teacher or Ms. Ganci, Assistant Principal.
If you have not already picked-up your child’s materials from last year, please call the main office to make an appointment for pick-up. All materials left behind will be disposed of on October 2nd.
This year we will again be hosting an AAP Overview night on Thursday, October 15th from 6:00PM-7:00PM. This is a time when we share what Advanced Academics is in Fairfax County, and what it looks like at Pine Spring this year.
