Terra Centre Updates 9-18-20

Allan

Terra Centre Families,

The 2020-2021 school year is off to a great start! Over the last two weeks, teachers and staff worked hard on building relationships and making our students feel welcome. They will continue to work on fostering classroom communities that support students with familiar routines, a safe learning environment and a variety of ways to demonstrate their understanding of the curriculum objectives.

We know that it takes a lot of effort, planning and patience at home for virtual learning to be successful, and we value your involvement and partnership. We appreciate the input, feedback, and many positive emails we’ve received! Your kind words have made such a difference, and we are truly fortunate to have an amazingly supportive school community! Together, we are stronger!

Finally, we would like to give a big shout out to our office staff, technology team, and custodial team! Our office staff has worked tirelessly to put together materials bags for all students, as well as handling new registrations and withdrawals and much more on top of their regular duties. They are truly the glue that holds us all together!! Our tech team has prepared, troubleshooted, and distributed laptops to over 400 students! Our custodial team maintained our grounds, deep cleaned our building, and supported distributions! They are working daily to keep our building disinfected and safe!

Back to School Nights are next week! Please see below for dates and times. Sessions will be recorded, and the presentations and recordings will be sent out to families. Each year, FCPS sends home required forms that we ask you to complete and return. This year, all required forms, such as emergency information, can be completed online. There are optional forms as well that can be submitted in a variety of ways. Please see below for details. Scroll down for additional important information Grab & Go Meals, TCES Family Hub, and more!

Have a fantastic weekend!

communication

School Communication

A partnership is imperative, now more than ever! Teachers will be sending weekly newsletters on Mondays with information about the upcoming week. The best way to reach your child’s teacher is email. Please note that teachers are focusing on teaching students during the day. They will make every effort to respond to your email within 24-48 hours. If it is critical that they receive your message immediately, please contact the main office at 703-249-1400.

Without Thursday Folders, most information will be sent electronically.  There may also be some items sent from the school via US mail. We will do our best to be as detailed as possible in the subject line so you can prioritize emails.

e-Notify messages are used to communicate directly to parents regarding emergencies or grade level/classroom specific messages.

  • This system was used to send class placement notifications and has been used to communicate critical information during distance learning.
  • This system uses the email address listed in our Student Information System.  Please be sure they are updated with any changes.

News You Choose bulletins are sent to anyone who signs up to receive information about Terra Centre.

  • These messages include information about upcoming events, opportunities, and other things happening at Terra Centre!
  • Weekly messages are sent out from administration as well as reminder messages when appropriate.
  • Email addresses for families are uploaded from SIS, but parents can unsubscribe from these messages.
