A Message From Principal Yacubovich

Back To School Night

This year we will host a Virtual Back to School Night on September 21st from 5:00PM to 6:00PM. During this time our school will meet in grade levels to go over topics such as attendance, grading and curriculum.

Each session will be recorded so that families who are not able to attend or who have more than one child, have the option to participate asynchronously. Below are the links to each grade level’s Back to School Night

iReady Assessment

The online iReady assessment (also known as the Universal Screener) provides an initial view of all students’ foundational skills to help teachers identify students who may have challenges in reading or mathematics. Students in grades K-6 will take the iReady reading assessment. Students in grades 1-6 will take the iReady mathematics assessment. More information about the assessment can be found on the FCPS Universal Screener Parent Notification webpage. Here is a video introducing iReady Assessment at Home.

This fall, students will take iReady at home. Here is a video for  guidance for families administering iReady from home. There is also a checklist.

Teachers will discuss the assessment with students in advance, including how to log in and what to expect. Resources to help families administer the assessment at home can be found on the FCPS Universal Screener webpage. Please keep in mind that this assessment is to be done independently, as the information will allow our teachers in being able to best plan for your child’s individualized instruction. For questions, please contact your child’s teacher or Ms. Ganci, Assistant Principal.

Students Rights and Responsibilities (SR&R)

Please review the Student Rights and Responsibilities (SR&R) and related resources at www.fcps.edu/srr.  After reviewing the information, fill out the SR&R Parent Acknowledgement Form using this link. The form must be filled out one time per student.

Yearbook Pick-up

If you purchased a 2019-2020 yearbook and have not yet picked it up, please stop at Pine Spring on Monday between 10AM-2PM to pick it up. We do not have any additional copies, so you must have already ordered and paid for the yearbook.

Last Year's Material Pick-up

If you have not already picked-up your child’s materials from last year, please call the main office to make an appointment for pick-up. All materials left behind will be disposed of on October 2nd.

Clubs on Monday, September 21st

On Monday, September 21st our instructional staff will be participating in a staff development opportunity to support our work around creating a culturally responsive learning environment. In order to ensure that students still have an opportunity for clubs, we will invite any student who wants to participate in the morning sessions to join us live. If you are a PM family and you would like to keep your schedule, we will be posting the videos to the grade level Monday Google Classrooms for you to participate.
