Message from the Principal

Langley HS

Greetings Saxon families,

I hope this communication finds each of you well. Our school year has gotten off to a tremendous start. During this week, I’ve had the pleasure of visiting a number of classrooms and have been delighted with the high level of student engagement. Our students and teachers are to be commended for their efforts.

As the year is now underway, below is information you may find useful.

Mondays

Teacher Office Hours - 8:30 a.m.- 11:30 a.m.

Students will access teachers through course links provided in Schoology. Students may access teachers for assistance. If a student is struggling academically, the teacher may require him/her to meet during office hours.

Students should complete asynchronous assignments. Weekly assignments are located within teachers’ course Schoology sites in folders labeled either Weekly Assignments or Unit Assignments.

Asynchronous Assignments

As shared during town halls and Friday 45 meetings held in August, students in standard level and honors courses will be assigned a maximum of 60 minutes of asynchronous work per week. For advanced level courses, the maximum amount of time needed for a typical student to complete asynchronous assignments should be no more than 75 minutes. It is expected that the bulk of assignments be assigned so they may be completed on Mondays.

Back to School Night

Our Back to School Night event will be held virtually. Schoolwide recordings will be sent on Monday, September 21 at 6 p.m. The communication will also provide directions for accessing student courses.

9/11

On this somber day, we took time in Saxon Country to remember the victims of the attacks. Below is the information shared with students at the start of the school day. The video may be accessed here.
