Herndon ES Bee Hive, September 11, 2020

first day

Tuesday, September 8th, was the first day of

"Virtual" school at Herndon Elementary!

CONGRATULATIONS to our STUDENTS, PARENTS, CAREGIVERS, FAMILIES, TEACHERS, STAFF, FCPS, and COMMUNITY for working together to bring education to our children during this most historic week!

"Virtual" School is a Regular School Day

Dear Parents,

Even though we are going to school "virtually", it is considered a regular school day and it is the law that children have to attend school.

The HES bell schedule begins at 9:20 am. Students are to "join" the class online Monday - Friday with the exception of student holidays and breaks.  Your child's teacher has the class schedule. Students HAVE school on Monday at 9:20 am

Attendance is being taken.  Please call the school at 703-326-3131 or submit an attendance/tardy form  online if your child is absent or tardy for any reason, including technology issues.  The Attendance Form button is on the HES website homepage.

Please call us immediately if you have technology issues. We can resolve them and your child will be able to join the class!

Parental Consent Needed for Select Digital Resources

Parents, have you done this yet?

It is IMPORTANT for ALL PARENTS to review the Herndon Elementary school-adopted digital resources that your child may use for classwork on their laptop.

If you want your child to use any or all of the HES resources listed, you have to let us know by signing the Parent Consent Form, preferably before school begins. Otherwise, they will not have access. Click HERE to review the DIGITAL RESOURCES and sign the FORM.

If you have any questions, please contact your child's teacher.

HES Band and Strings for  Upper Grades Update

Herndon Elementary School will be offering instrumental music for upper-grade students for the 2020-2021 school year! We will hold LIVE synchronous, 30 minute online classes once per week for band and strings. Students in Grade 4 may choose a string instrument, while students in grade 5 and 6 may choose either a strings or a band instrument. Ms. Schwoyer (strings) and Ms. Adams (band) visited students virtually this week to tell them more about the strings and band programs. School rentals are available for students who qualify.

The following links will give students all the information they need to choose an instrument! Students must be logged in to their FCPS Google accounts to access these links.
