Tech Support for Parents and Students

To support families who are working with their children during distance learning, FCPS has launched a new Parent Technology Help Desk, effective Monday, August 24. The help desk can be reached at 833-921-3277 (833-921-FCPS) and will be answered by staff members between 7 a.m. and 11 p.m., seven days a week.

Parents or guardians can call this number for basic tech support with parent accounts, help with FCPS student devices and technical assistance with other FCPS applications. If help desk staff members are unable to solve the issue, they will enter a support ticket on behalf of the parent/guardian to escalate the issue to the appropriate FCPS team. Parents who need help in a language other than English can inform the help desk staff when they call of their preferred language, and an interpreter will join in on the call.

FCPS has also set up Parent and Student Technology Support portal at https://itweb.fcps.edu/itsupport/ to allow older students and parents/guardians to request technology help directly. When a support request ticket is entered through the portal, it is auto-routed to the TSSpec at the appropriate site to expedite service.

Schedule Change Process 2020-21

September 8-18:

  • No schedule changes to ensure accurate membership count.

Starting September 21:

  • Schedule changes will only be considered for a student experiencing academic difficulty in a core subject and/or World Language course.
  • There are no elective or teacher changes.
  • Changes will only be permitted if space is available in the new course.

Steps to follow for the schedule change process:

  1. Student and parent/guardian initiate an email to the counselor to discuss a possible schedule change.
  2. Parent and student must contact the teacher to discuss a possible schedule change (email, phone call or virtual meeting).
  3. Once the parent, student, and teacher agree that a schedule change is necessary, the counselor will send out their Schedule Change Google Form for the student to complete.
  4. If the schedule change is approved and space is available in the new class, the school counselor will notify the student and their parent/guardian of the schedule change.
  5. Information will be communicated to teachers so appropriate links are emailed to the student.

They will receive a confirmation email from the library team when the books are available. We offer contact-free curbside services on Monday afternoons between 12:00 and 3:00. Other arrangements (outlined in the confirmation emails) can be made as needed. If you have library books from last year from any FCPS school, they can be returned at the same time.

  • Celebrate the 20th Annual National Book Festival September 25 – 27. Jason Reynolds, the National Ambassador for Young People’s Literature, weighs in here on why this year’s virtual celebration may just be the best National Book Festival yet.
  • Starting October 1, FCPS students can check out books from Fairfax County public libraries without a library card. LEAP (Library Equity Access Pass) will allow students to check out up to three books at a time for a six week period by giving their student ID number. No fines will be accrued. Some services (placing holds, accessing FCPL databases) will still require a library card.
