How to Access Classes on September 8th

Please share with your child(ren)

Jaguar Parents/Guardians,

The first day of school is here!  As we prepare for a strong start on September 8th, we want to be sure that students are able to access their classrooms successfully.

Students should start by going to the Google Classroom for each of their classes. Prior to the first day of school, teachers will post an announcement to help students know how to access their synchronous class sessions - either on Blackboard Collaborate Ultra (BBCU) or Google Meet. Based on that announcement, the following instructions may be helpful to you.

How to find Blackboard Collaborate Ultra (BBCU) links:

In their @fcpsschools.net Gmail, students should follow the green arrow in the image below and click on the "BBCU Links" label.  This will show a list of all the BBCU links teachers have sent.

How to access a Google Meet link:

If students continue to have difficulty accessing their classes they should contact their School Counselor.

Tech Support for Parents and Students

To support families who are working with their children during distance learning, FCPS has launched a new Parent Technology Help Desk, effective Monday, August 24. The help desk can be reached at 833-921-3277 (833-921-FCPS) and will be answered by staff members between 7 a.m. and 11 p.m., seven days a week.

FCPS has also set up Parent and Student Technology Support portal at https://itweb.fcps.edu/itsupport/ to allow older students and parents/guardians to request technology help directly. When a support request ticket is entered through the portal, it is auto-routed to the TSSpec at the appropriate site to expedite service.

Virtual Back to School Night (BTSN)

Thursday, September 10th (6:00 - 8:45 pm)

Back to School Night (BTSN) will be Thursday, September 10, from 6:00 - 8:45 pm.

It’s just around the corner and is an important night for all of us.  We are looking forward to meeting our Jaguar families!

Click here for a detailed schedule of events.  Students should copy and paste their class links in the space provided; families and caregivers can use these links to “visit” their students’ virtual classrooms.

Digital Resources at Falls Church High School

Our teachers are busy creating engaging lessons for students.  Many teachers are hoping to use some powerful digital applications that require parent/guardian consent.  Without consent, teachers will need to plan additional lessons or deviate from a useful application altogether.

This link shares information about those apps (scroll down to "School-Wide Programs):

This link will take you to the consent form:

Thank you for your attention to this important component of distance learning and support of our teachers!

Behind the Wheel

Anyone interested in signing up for Behind the Wheel please contact Mr. Booth for details (bpbooth@fcps.edu).

The ACE sign-ups will go live the first week of September and Behind the Wheel classes will start September 22nd at FCHS.

Health Information and Emergency Care Forms

The Health Information Form (HIF) (SS/SE -71) and the Emergency Care Information form (SS/SE-3) provide valuable information regarding student health conditions. These forms are critical in the early identification of students who may need healthcare support in the educational environment. Along with the development of Healthcare Plans (HCP) and Action Plans, the Public Health Nurses (PHN) utilize the information contained in the HIF to develop teaching strategies for FCPS staff in order to meet the requirements of Regulation 2104 Health Services-School Health Related Needs.

Both these forms are required for all students for SY 20-21 and are available for electronic submission by parents via their FCPS 24/7 (Blackboard) accounts within the weCare@school (weCare) module.
