Virtual Open House and Unity Time

These last few weeks with our teachers have flown by and have been amazing! I appreciate how hard each teacher and staff member has been working to get our students ready and preparing to have them back in class.

For those of you who joined us for laptop distribution and our general info sessions, thank you! It was so nice to see all of you and answer your questions.

Today: Unity Time and Virtual Open House

Hopefully, over the last 2 days, you were able to connect with your unity time teacher and get your schedules in order, for the first day of school next week! Later today at 1pm is our Virtual Open House. Students will practice running through their Red (odd periods) and Blue (even periods) day schedules.  They’ll have the chance to see and hear every teacher and student in each period and practice the logistics prior to the first day of school. Today’s open house is just for the students to attend, but parents can join in if they would like!

We look forward to seeing you all today!

Laptops and Technology

Laptop Distribution

Have you picked up your FCPS issued laptop? It is highly recommended to have a school issued laptop, as we are able to properly support you and your technology needs. If you missed the distribution days we had last week, do not worry! We still have slots available to pick up. Please visit the sign-up link below for the schedule of available slots.

Technology Resources

If you or your student encounter tech issues during this virtual start to the year. Please see some of the resources below.

Student Site: Every student has this icon on their laptop’s desktop. It is important that they check here for information pertaining to tech support, student services and much more. Parents will not have access to this as it is linked to your students FCPS google account.

FCPS and Liberty Tech Resources: Below are links to the LMS website as well as to FCPS help desk info. Please look at these pages if you need more information surrounding technology resources.

We have recorded the session and attached it here, along with the power point with all the information that was discussed. The session which was recorded was the seventh-grade session, but the information is the same.

Clinical Team Information Hub

We are looking forward to a successful schoolyear with your students.  We know that big changes have needed to occur for everyone while dealing with the pandemic.  We plan to provide you with a clinical newsletter for what we hope you will find to be valuable resources in being successful this year with virtual schooling and managing stress.  You can find August’s newsletter attached here!

Clinical Team August Newsletter

We recognize that many families and students are very stressed and may have a lack of supports adding to their stress right now.  Unfortunately, there are times when stress and lack of supports lead to abuse and neglect.  We want to you to know that we are here to support you.  Please do not hesitate to call Angie Huber, School Social Worker, if you have concerns about abuse or neglect in your community.  We also provided some guidelines for you to consider if you feel you need to call Child Protective Services directly.  Angie Huber’s information is aahuber@fcps.edu or 703-988-8222.

There will also be a new Social Work Resource page on our school website. It is still under construction, but please take a look if you find that you are in need of assistance and other resources. The link is added for you below, but it can be found under our student services page.
