Tomorrow, Wednesday, September 2, 11:00 am – 12:00 pm, Laptop Pickup
• Reminder: If you are picking up a laptop for your child on Wednesday morning, you must have your child with you. You and your child should have masks on when interacting with school staff. You must have already arranged this laptop pick up with WFES as we need lead time to prepare the computers.
• Families picking up laptops will receive their students’ school materials/supplies at this time.

Tomorrow, Wednesday, September 2, 1:00 – 2:00 PM School Supply and Materials Pickup
Thursday, September 3, 8:00 – 10:00 am School Supply and Materials Pickup
Families will be able to pick up preordered school supplies, and grade level materials for the start of school. Every student has something to pick up. (Families who are checking out a laptop will be provided these materials during their laptop pick up.)
• You may come at any time during these periods. There is no Sign-up Genius for these events.
You do not have to bring your children. It will expedite the process if you can readily give your children’s teachers’ names to the staff member helping you in the drive-through line.
• If you personally cannot come on either day, you may have a friend or relative pick up your children’s supplies.
• If you are not able to pick up next week, please contact the office at 703-503-2300.

FCPS will make all reasonable modifications to policies and programs to ensure that people with disabilities have an equal opportunity to enjoy all of its programs, services, and activities. Anyone who requires an auxiliary aid or service to facilitate the pickup of materials should contact Amy Williams at alwilliams1@fcps.edu as soon as possible.

PTA Fundraiser – Thursday, September 3
The PTA is sponsoring a Scoops2U fundraiser on Thursday, September 3 from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm. The ice cream truck will be making the rounds of the Wakefield Forest district during those hours. Our school gets 10% of the proceeds!

September 15, 2020 – Back to School Night – Save the Date

Family Life Education Instructional Program Information
Family Life Education Instructional Program Information Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) provides a comprehensive, sequential Family Life Education (FLE) program for students in grades kindergarten through grade twelve. Instruction is seen as a partnership among parents and guardians, the school, and the community in supporting the learning essential to the development of strong families, positive relationships, and a healthy community.

Parents/guardians may choose to opt their child out of all or part of the Family Life Education program. Students who are opted out are provided with age-appropriate, nonpunitive alternative health instruction, and every effort is made to foster respect for family choices. If you wish to opt your child out of all or part of FLE for this school year, please fill in the opt-out form and return it to your child’s school prior to Family Life Education instruction. Opt out forms will be included in your child’s back-to school materials on our WFES website and are available online for Elementary (K-6). Click on the link below to review detailed grade-level program descriptions/materials or for the opt out form.

FLE grade level-specific lessons and media that FCPS has streaming rights for are available for parents online in FCPS 24-7 (Blackboard) Parent View information. Information can be found at https://fcps.blackboard.com/ . Account information is available at your local school or online at

http://www.fcps.edu/is/instructionaltechnology/247help/parents.shtml

Grade level-specific lessons are also available at the Fairfax County Regional Library in the City of Fairfax (this location does not have media). Grade level-specific lessons and media that is not streamed online are available for review at your child’s school library. Due to copyright permissions, we are unable to stream all media online. Program questions may be addressed at your child’s school or by contacting Instructional Services at 571-423-4550.

Contact Information
For parents to stay up to date on school news and plans, current contact information is essential. This is especially important because schools will need to regularly notify parents about program changes and opportunities, such as laptop distributions, school supply lists, and other essentials. Once school begins, your school team may need to reach parents about student absences and academic and other concerns.

Parents may update their information through Parent View.

School Supplies
We have modified the school supplies we think students will need in a virtual environment. These are posted on our school website https://wakefieldforestes.fcps.edu/node/2461 . If your family needs support with school supplies, please reach out to Nancy Garcia-Henderson nagarciahend@fcps.edu, Chelsea Boateng cmboateng@fcps.edu or Miriam Pitchford MCPitchford@fcps.edu (Spanish).

Website
We have been working to keep our website updated with important information. We added a tab called Return to School 2020-21
