Edison Academy Welcome and Virtual Orientation 9/3/2020

Hello to all our 2020-2021 Edison Academy students and families.  We are excited to welcome you to a new school year!

Our Academy instructors have been very busy planning for a robust virtual opening. We are so excited about what this new year will bring.  While we all want to be back in our school buildings, and until it is safe to do so, we assure you that your children will be receiving high quality virtual instruction.

Edison Academy Career Experience Specialist - I am pleased to introduce you to Ms. Genie Williford, our Career Experience Specialist. Ms. Williford (ecwilliford@fcps.edu) can answer any of your questions that have to do with our internships, job shadows and other career related experiences, many of which will be virtual as we begin the new school year.

Edison Academy Counselor - I would also like to introduce Ms. Cassandra Deedy (cjdeedy@fcps.edu), who serves as our Academy Counselor.  Do not hesitate to reach out to Ms. Deedy with any questions concerning schedules or any other Academy questions.

Edison Academy Attendance - Please remember that Edison Academy operates as a separate school for your child. If your child is going to absent from class, or if there is any critical information that you think we should know, please contact Edison Academy along with your child's base school. Parents can email attendance to edisonacademy.attendance@fcps.edu or you can reach the academy office at (703)924-8100 or the attendance line at (703)-924-8137.

New Learning Management System - This year Edison Academy will be using Schoology as our new learning management system.  This will be taking the place of Blackboard and Google Classroom.  All students will login to Schoology and then join their Academy class session.  This will ensure the security of our virtual class meetings. Please have your child log into Schoology prior to the first day of school to make sure they can get in and see their academy course. Students must go through Schoology in order to access their synchronous (live) class sessions. If you need more information and resources about Schoology please visit our website.

Edison Academy Virtual Orientation 9/3/2020 at 10:30 a.m. - Students will have the opportunity to log into classes on September 3^rd from 10:30 – 11:00 a.m. to briefly make sure they can access their academy course and meet teachers.  Please refer to an email from your child's academy teacher for directions on how to join this virtual orientation session. 

Need Assistance? If your child has trouble joining the virtual orientation or academy class sessions please contact Edison Academy Administrator, Whitney Ketchledge, (wsketchledge@fcps.edu). You can reach out to anyone in the academy office and your child's academy teacher for assistance at any time during the year.
