Phase III Return to Activities!

Greetings TJ parents and students,

We have some great news to share! FCPS leadership as of August 28th has approved “Phase III Return to Activities" for High Schools. The Phase III initiative places emphasis on reconnecting our High School Athletic Programs, to our athletes and coaches. Region DSA’s in cooperation with the FCPS Office of Student Activities and Athletic Programs along with the guidance of the VA Health Department is implementing a return to activity plan in Phase III with the primary goal of expanding opportunities for athletes and to expand out of season workouts.

Here are some highlights of the Phase III Return to Activities Plan

  • Activities to begin after September 7 under Phase III guidelines
  • The FCPS “Phase III Return to Activity Plan” open to all sports programs.
  • A Valid VHSL Physical and Emergency Card is required for all athletes who plan to participate.
  • All athletes must pass a pre-screening procedure before they can exit their car, to include a temperature check not to exceed 100.4.
  • Athletes must furnish their own 32 oz. water bottle, no shared coolers will be used.
  • In Phase III a limited amount of equipment can be utilized. Footballs, Blocking Pads, Baseballs, Softballs, Volleyballs, Lacrosse/Field Hockey Sticks are listed as approved equipment.
  • All Coaches will receive training for screening athletes, social distancing protocols, and also be trained on procedures for disinfecting equipment.
  • All workouts in Phase III MUST be conducted outdoors. Athletes are not permitted to enter the building.

Safety of student athletes is paramount!
