Justice Newsletter - August 16, 2020

A Note from Principal Eck

Dear Justice Families,

I wanted to give you an update on all that we know about the 20-21 school year at this point.

Bell Schedule

To begin the year, Tuesday through Friday will be full days of virtual school. Tuesdays and Thursdays will be “Red Days” (1,3,5,7) and Wednesdays and Fridays will be “Blue Days” (2,4,6,8). Period 4 will be our Den Time.

Mondays will be used for intervention, extension and office hours for the first few hours of the day and the rest of the day will be used for teacher meetings. The time teachers are meeting should be used by students to complete asynchronous assignments and other school-related work on their own.

Full Day Fully Virtual Secondary and High School Schedule (Grades 7-12 or 9-12)

Master Schedule

We are working very hard to give every student the best possible schedule. This is, and will be, a work in progress. At this point, we plan on releasing schedules in ParentVUE and StudentVUE on September 2nd. If something changes, we will let you know.

Student Laptop Distribution

Student laptops distribution is scheduled for 8/25-8/28 from 8:30am – 2:00pm for rising 9th graders and any new students. Please see below for detailed information.

Textbook and Class Material Distribution

Distribution of textbooks and classroom materials will not occur until after the first week of school. This will allow for minor schedule changes to occur before distribution to ensure students are receiving accurate books and materials.

Freshmen Orientation

We are excited to welcome our Wolves to the 2020-2021 school year during our annual Wolfpack Welcome, the Virtual Edition, on Tuesday, September 1st at 6:30 pm! Students will have the opportunity to virtually meet school staff, find out about activities and clubs, and learn important information about the upcoming school year. The event will be streamed through YouTube Premiere – a Live Event. A link will be available via all social media platforms, in your News You Choose email on August 30th, and in your student’s @fcpsschools.net email inbox by August 30th. A recording of the event will be shared after September 1st for those who are unable to join us that evening.

Back to School Night

Back to School Night will occur September 22, 2020. The format of this event is still in production. More information will follow.

Graduation

Justice's graduation date is June 7, 2021 at Eagle Bank Arena @2PM. Decisions about the format of graduation will be based on local and state conditions and will be made as we get closer to the end of the school year.

Questions and Wondering

In order for us to get a better sense of questions and wonderings you may have, we have created a Google Form for you to write down anything you may be thinking so that we can answer as many of your questions in our upcoming News You Choose Newsletter. You can find the Google Form here.

As always, if you have any questions, please reach out to me at mveck@fcps.edu.
