Dear Clermont Families,
I hope all our Clermont Families are healthy and well as we prepare for our staff to come back to school next week! Earlier this week I sent out information regarding 5th and 6th grade laptop distribution. This information is also available on the Clermont website. Next week, information will be sent out regarding grades K – 4. Thank you for your patience as we prepare all the student laptops to be distributed.
In addition to laptops, a link to the grade level schedules was sent out earlier this week. The amount of time that children will be “in virtual school” has created quite a buzz in our community. I want to reassure you that the staff and I are aware of the many ways lengthy amounts of screen time can impact young children, and we are sensitive to this. Teachers will be providing children with work during the designated blocks of time that will be both with and without the computer. We will be doing our absolute best to ensure children are engaged in ways that don’t require constant focus on the screen. Clermont will be holding a Virtual Open House on September 3rd. Be on the lookout for more information about this coming soon!
This week the PTA Yearbook Team has been delivering yearbooks in advance of the pick-up event tomorrow. All Clermont neighborhoods were visited at least once. And with 47% delivered so far it will be easy to maintain social distance at the pick-up. If you have not received the yearbook you ordered please come tomorrow.
When: Saturday, August 15 from 9 AM to Noon (rain or shine!)
Where: 3705 Lakota Rd, Alexandria, VA 22303.
There are a limited number of additional yearbooks for purchase; however, they are not available for pick-up tomorrow. If you are interested please email yearbook@clermontpta.org. After the event, the Yearbook Team will assess how many books remain for distribution and share additional instructions next week to ensure every child can get their book as soon as possible. Please email us if you have any questions and we'll address them next week.
We are excited to welcome our rising Kindergartners for the 2020-2021 school year. While we were unable to gather for a face to face Kindergarten Orientation this year, that didn’t stop us from connecting. If you still have any Clermont library books at home, please bring them with you when you come to pick up your school issued laptops. Thank you for keeping them safe over the summer!

Supply lists for virtual learning have been posted to the Clermont website at this link: Virtual Supply Lists
If you ordered school supplies through Campus Survival, those will be delivered to the school and you will be contacted so that you may set up a time to retrieve your previously ordered supplies.
