Dear Members of the Chantilly Community:

As the start of school nears, I want to again thank you for your patience and flexibility as we adjust to a new way of teaching and learning. We are doing our best to keep student well-being and achievement at the center of our efforts. We realize that there has been a constant stream of news and updates that are difficult to keep track of, and we promise to better consolidate and prioritize what students and parents need to know as we settle into our new routines and procedures. Most of all, we are committed to organizational growth and improvement. I have just a few requests and reminders as we head into the holiday weekend:

  • We are still missing numerous textbooks, library books and other school-owned from last year. If you still have such items, please return them to CHS as soon as possible so we can provide our current students what they need. Feel free to drop off any items at the front office from 7:30AM-3:30PM during the weekdays.
  • If you have questions or need help with matters related to the return to school, please visit our webpage at: https://chantillyhs.fcps.edu/chs-returntoschool
  • Remember that our Back to School Night is scheduled for evening of September 10th. The good news is that everything is recorded so you can view needed videos at your leisure after 6:30PM on 09/10. Parents will have an opportunity to ask follow up questions to teachers in live virtual rooms on Monday, September 14th. More detailed information and reminders will be provided next week.

We are excited and enthusiastic about the start of school and look forward to serving you!

Have a good weekend,

Scott

CHANTILLY HS LIBRARY

CURBSIDE SERVICE FOR STUDENTS

BOOK CHECK OUTS AND RETURNS

Beginning Monday Sept. 14, 2020

Mondays 11:15am-12:45pm

Chantilly HS Door #1

Students may place up to 5 holds to reserve books.

Access the library catalog through the Chantilly HS Student Google Site on your computer. Students must login to the catalog to be able to reserve a book. To select a book for checkout, click on the HOLD button next to the book. Email the library staff if there are questions about book selections.

HOLDS must be placed by the end of the school day on Fridays to receive the book on Monday’s Curbside pick-up.

Library staff will check out the book to the student, place the book in a plastic bag and label with the student’s name and ID#.

Students will receive an email at their@fcpsschools.net account the Friday before Monday’s curbside service.

Library books may be picked up and returned at the front of Chantilly HS door #1 Mondays 11:15am-12:45pm.

Students should call the library office at 703-222-8117 after arriving at the school and place a paper with the student’s name and ID# in the vehicle window. Library staff will deliver the book to the vehicle.

Masks must be worn during pick-up\return and a 6-foot separation maintained during all interactions.

Books being picked up and book returns are kept separate. Returned books are isolated for 72 hours before check-in to the library and re-shelved or loaned to another individual. Inter-Library Loan services are currently not available.

Library books from any FCPS school may be returned to Chantilly HS. Books will be returned to their home school library.
