Welcome to Our New Teachers!

FCPS welcomed more than 1,000 new teachers yesterday at a virtual kickoff for our Great Beginnings Summer Institute. Great Beginnings is a four-day event that serves as a professional learning opportunity for novice teachers as well as veteran teachers who are new to our school district. We are incredibly fortunate that they chose FCPS. Please join us in welcoming them!

Superintendent Brabrand, Chief Operating Officer Marty Smith, and Deputy Superintendent Francis Ivey presented, while socially distant, during a live broadcast of the 2020 Leadership Kickoff.

FCPS held a virtual Leadership Kickoff on Wednesday, August 5. The event began with virtual networking, and recognition of newly hired and promoted leaders. Superintendent Brabrand delivered a keynote message on "Keeping Equity at the Center of Our Work." Deputy Superintendent Frances Ivey, Chief Operating Officer Marty Smith, and the Fairfax County School Board Student Representative Nathan Onibudo also participated in the presentation. Tune In to the Virtual Town Hall Tomorrow

Superintendent’s Technology Advisory Council Submits Final Report and Recommendations

FCPS announced the submission of the final report and recommendations by the Superintendent’s Technology Advisory Council (the Council), concluding the Council’s work. The final report and actional next steps stem from the collective work of the co-chairs and workstream committees during the past three months, and aggregates the Council’s collective thinking and best practices around the role of technology. Falls Church HS Parent Liaison Featured in County's COVID-19 Fotonovela 

Carolina Dotel, a parent liaison at Falls Church HS, plays the role of "Camilla" in a county fotonovela about COVID-19 safety.


Fairfax County's Health Department recently created a fotonovela, a Spanish-language slideshow that uses photos and voiceover to tell a story, to share information on how to stay healthy in a household with multiple people. The fotonovela tells the story of Camilla and her family, who have adopted new routines at home. In real life, "Camilla" is Carolina Dotel, a parent liaison at Falls Church HS. Well done, Carolina!
