Laptops for Irving Middle School Students
Please take a look at the two letters linked HERE for information about FCPSOn. We will begin distribution of laptops in mid-August. Every WIMS student will receive a new laptop, charger, and computer sleeve. More information will be shared in the coming weeks about the distribution process.

Irving Middle School CONTINUES to be a Grab and Go throughout the Summer!
Irving Middle School continues to be one of the Grab and Go locations throughout the summer! We will continue serving breakfast and lunch from 10:00 am - 1:00 pm. You may pick up both breakfast and lunch at the same time. Meals are free to all students and $2.00 for adults and distributed Monday - Friday.

Irving MS’ Summer READ! Program
Irving Summer Academy
Irving Summer Academy is a transition program designed to give students a “jump start” into middle school. The program equips students with some of the skills they need to be successful in middle school, as well as give them an opportunity to meet peers and ask questions about Irving. Enrollment is open to all WIMS rising 7th graders. Due to the virtual nature of this program, this year’s program is structured a bit differently than in the past. Students will attend a one-day program, on EITHER Monday August 10th, Tuesday August 11th, Wednesday August 12th, OR Thursday, August 13th. During their program day, students will participate in four activities in the following topics: Middle School Success, Team-building, Online Learning, and All about Irving. The entire program will take place virtually (online) on Blackboard Collaborate Ultra, and Irving staff members will be present in all activity sessions. In addition to the live sessions, we will be sharing a variety of asynchronous (self-guided) resources with students to help with their transition to middle school.
Here is the daily schedule:
- 10:00-10:45 AM – Activity 1
- 11:00-11:45 AM – Activity 2
- 12:00-12:45 PM – Lunch Break
- 1:00-1:45 PM – Activity 3
- 2:00-2:45 PM – Activity 4
On your registration form, you will be asked to indicate your preference for which day your child attends, but preference cannot be guaranteed. Program day preference is given on a first come, first registered basis. Register now to ensure your child’s place! An email confirming your child’s program date and additional program details will be sent during the week of August 3rd.
