Community Updates and Fall Bell Schedule

Dear Churchill Families

Thank you for completing the FCPS Enrollment Survey last week! We know this was a difficult decision for many of you. I valued the many opportunities to get to know and interact with so many of you as you made this decision. We hope now with the decision made you have some time to enjoy the beautiful (yet warm!) weather and time with your family.

This past week, we began working through the staff and family return-to-school response data. (Our initial school-level data are linked here on the FCPS website.)  As a team, we are committed to strategic planning so we can easily adapt to changing conditions, should we need to. We anticipate additional guidance from the county regarding scheduling. We kindly ask for your patience to allow us the time to create a schedule that meets both parent choice and staff needs.  We do have confirmation that the bell schedule for Churchill Road will be 9:10 a.m. to 3:55 p.m. and promise to communicate on an ongoing basis as plans are firmed up.

Besides scheduling, we are continuing to find ways to increase our professional knowledge related to best practice instructional strategies we can use to support your children. We also are continuing to work through logistics such as hallway transitions, arrival and dismissal procedures, health and safety protocols. We will share specific details related as we get closer to the start of school.

In one of our staff meetings this spring, I shared this quote by Eisenhower.  “In preparing for battle, I have always found that plans are useless, but planning is indispensable.”  This same quote summarizes our goal at Churchill Road Elementary as we look to the 20/21 school year.

September 8th is right around the corner! We honestly cannot wait to see your CHILDREN! As always, please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Cherith Pierson
