Glasgow Community:

I want to open by stating how proud I am to work with such an incredible staff. From family and community outreach and summer school, to new-laptop re-imaging and in-building logistics, building cleaning and polishing, so many staff are working on behalf of our return-to-school effort. We truly are a community that commits to starting strong.

Our admin team returned to the building this week, and in the midst of uncertainty, we have used the following quote from President Eisenhower to focus our work: “In preparing for battle, I have always found that plans are useless, but planning is indispensable.” While the specific plans and guidance for fall is still evolving, the way we think deeply about logistics, instruction and communication will serve us well no matter what. As a team, we are committed to deep and strategic planning so that we can easily pivot if and when we need to. We are working through logistics such as hallway transitions, arrival and dismissal procedures, health and safety protocols, and breakfast and lunch distribution among other topics, and we will share details as we get closer to the start of school.

We are working through the staff and family return-to-school response data and will share information with you as well as next steps when we get more guidance. You can see our initial school-level data below.

It will take significant time to design our instructional program that meets the needs of students and staff. We have a massive jigsaw puzzle and it will take time for the picture to become clear. Thank you for understanding where administrators and counselors will need to focus our efforts in the coming weeks. We do not have information yet regarding which courses will be offered. Families cannot initiate course request changes nor can they change their preference of in-person or online at this time. If an existing course request cannot be met, a counselor will be in touch with a student to provide alternatives.

I will share more updates soon. Thank you for your continued communication and support.

Summer Programs

Summer Learning Opportunities - Our summer learning opportunities are up and running at Glasgow. If your student has not already, he/she should receive their Language Arts & Math review workbooks in the mail.  If you opted out of receiving the paper workbooks during distance learning and did not opt back in, your student will need to access the review workbooks online through Blackboard 24/7. Office hours are available using the schedule below. If you would like your child to receive the link for the office hours - please contact Molly Walsh or Deirdre Levin.

If you have any questions during summer learning, please reach out to Molly Walsh, molly.walsh20@gmail.com, or Deirdre Levin, dmcshea@fcps.edu, for support.
