Return to School: Frequently Asked Questions for Families

First Day of School for Students is September 8, 2020

At their July 9 business meeting, the FCPS School Board approved delaying the start of the 2020-21 school year to provide staff members additional time to plan instruction and schedules, provide professional staff development, and finalize transportation and other operational details.  The revised calendar delays the first instructional day for students by two weeks, from Tuesday, August 25, to Tuesday, September 8. Other employee work schedules will remain unchanged and the revised calendar provides adjustments for additional staff development and planning time.

The revised 2020-21 school year calendar is available online.

Masks:

Masks will be required for students and staff throughout the day.

No visitors or volunteers:

Visitors will only be permitted in the building with very limited exceptions to reduce the risk of exposure.

Please be sure to review the FCPS Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) as FCPS is updating them often along with details about the options .   We will continue to keep you updated and informed as more details about the Return to School Plan become available.   As you work to make the best decision for your family, I hope that this information is helpful.  Take good care and stay healthy.

Sincerely,

Erika Aspuria
