Message From the Principal

Dear Parents/Guardians:

Today, the School Board met to discuss the opening of schools.  Here are a few of the outcomes you need to know:

  • The high school start time remains at 8:10am and school will end at 2:55pm for both online and in-person classes
  • All high school students (online and in-person) will be following an A/B block schedule rather than 8 periods per day.
    • This allows for fewer pass times in the hallway
    • Allows for more weekly instructional time
    • Allows for better access to Academy classes
    • Provides a longer instructional time frame for courses with labs or needed prep time
  • For in-person classes:
    • Last names beginning with A-K will attend Tuesday and Thursday
    • Last names beginning with L-Z attend Wednesday and Friday
  • The deadline for selecting online or in-person instruction is needed by July 15.  Parents can select the preferred option here.  Specific course offerings online and in-person will be dependent on student enrollment and ability to provide appropriate staffing in each setting for each course.

We will send out bell schedules as the school year draws near. The Link to PP from today - scroll down to the bottom of the page to find PowerPoint regarding Return to School https://go.boarddocs.com/vsba/fairfax/Board.nsf/goto?open&id=BE6FYC414EF0
