Message from Principal Magliola
Dear Jackson Families,
With LJMS beginning to plan our Return to School (Virtual and In-Person), we will begin sending updated information each week on Sunday evenings. I realize we all will have many questions around changes to traditional aspects of starting school. I may also send newsletters during the week to announce town hall presentations or time-sensitive information for your student. You will also notice a few new links to our PTA website and Facebook page. I cannot encourage you enough to please take a moment and visit these pages as your support of the work ahead will be imperative to us having a successful year for our students.
Please remember to complete the survey for your child indicating your preference for virtual or in-person learning for the year by July 15th. Schools will use these results to begin building their schedules and course offerings for student programs. https://www.fcps.edu/enroll2020
Enjoy your week!
Mike

Here is the link to our slide deck from our presentation last week. We will have another town hall meeting after 7/15 to share the most updated information on our Return to School plan for LJMS! The recording of the session is not available at this time and we are working to resolve this issue.

Incoming Seventh Grade Students
Effective July 1, 2019, Virginia Law requires that all students entering seventh grade receive a booster dose of the Tdap vaccine prior to the beginning of school. The Tdap vaccine protects against tetanus (lockjaw), diphtheria, and pertussis (whooping cough) and is usually given around the age of 11, although it can be given as early as seven years of age.
In order for your child to begin 7th grade you will need to submit one of the following documents before the first day of school. It is recommended that all paperwork be submitted to the school office by July 31, 2020.
Acceptable documentation can be one of the following:
- A copy of your child’s immunization record showing the Tdap vaccine.
- A note on a healthcare provider’s letterhead stating the date the Tdap vaccine was given.
- A healthcare provider’s written statement of a permanent or temporary medical exemption.
- A notarized Religious Exemption Form which is available online at:
http://www.doe.virginia.gov/support/health_medical/certificate_religious_exemption.pdf
The Tdap booster is available from your child’s healthcare provider or the Fairfax County Health Department. The Health Department Clinic locations and hours are available online at: https://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/health/clinics or by calling 703-246-2411. Please note that students receiving immunizations at the Health Department must be accompanied by an adult, and should bring their immunization records with them.
For questions regaring immmunization records, please contact Diana Egas:
