Annandale Community Insider - July 6

a

Annandale Community:

I hope that you have had some time to relax and recharge this summer. I was able to spend some time with family in Ohio and soak up the sun for a few days on Lake Erie.

Looking towards the fall and our return to school, families will need to choose between two options. The first is for students to return in person to school with health and social distancing protocols in place. The second option is to continue with online, virtual learning. Families will need to decide by July 10 if they will enroll their child for in-person or online learning for the coming 2020-2021 school year. It is very important that all families complete this enrollment form with their choice for each student in FCPS so that schools can ensure adequate staffing for online and in-person classes.

I am certain that you have more questions than answers and you would like to have as much information as possible to make an informed decision. On Thursday, July 9, at 11:00am - 12:00pm (English) and 1:30pm - 2:30pm (español) we will be holding an Annandale High School Town Hall to help answer any AHS specific questions. Please RSVP to be sent the link prior to the session and ask any questions that you might like answered.

There will also be two Town Halls with Dr. Brabrand answering questions on Return to Learn this week. See below for details.

  • English - Monday, July 6, at 6:30pm It will be livestreamed on the FCPS website or parents can watch on Channel 99.
  • Spanish - Wednesday, July 8 at 6:30pm. It will be livestreamed on FCPS Facebook en español

As we plan for the upcoming year with guidance from FCPS, my goal is to balance the educational needs of our students with the need to ensure a safe and healthy learning environment. In this process, our first priority remains the health and safety of our students and staff.

As always, thank you for your continued support. Please reach out with questions and feedback.

Summer Learning Opportunities

From now until Friday, July 31, Annandale students will have the opportunity to take advantage of the Continuity of Learning program which is a free summer program that offers students an opportunity to review concepts and skills using recommended self-directed digital materials. Materials will not be collected or graded.

The digital materials can be found on the Mathematics and English sites. Annandale teachers will be available each week through office hours to assist students with the digital materials or other learning goals that they may be working on throughout the summer. To take advantage of office hours, please register using the links below. There is no deadline for registration.

To register your student for office hours and receive a secure link, please click on the link for Continuity of Learning Support:

Once registered, your child will receive log-in information through his or her FCPS Google email address prior to the first session. If you have any questions, contact Mr. Roberson at blroberson@fcps.edu
