2020-21 School Year

Hello Poplar Tree Families,

I hope your summer break is off to a good start and that everyone is safe and healthy.

You will receive an email today from Dr. Brabrand outlining the options for your child for next year. The deadline for your response is July 10, 2020.

I know you probably want more details in order to make your decision and yet so many of those details depends on the number of students enrolled in each option. I want to share the most accurate information that might help you in making your decision. Please know that my role is simply to help you make an informed decision. Ultimately, you need to make a choice that matches the needs of your child and your family. Below is a summary of each option and links for additional resources.

  • If you chose the online option, our teachers will provide instruction Tuesday – Friday, and we will provide independent assignments for Mondays. Unlike during the spring, attendance will be mandatory, and teachers will grade assignments as they do when we are in person. You can see more details here.
  • If you chose the in-person option, students will be in class with teachers a minimum of two days per week, and we will provide independent assignments for the other days. You can see details about the plan for social distancing and other details here.

We don’t have details about specials classes, recess, and lunch just yet, but I will share these with you as they become available.

Please note that you will need the student ID number for your child, and either the enrolling parent’s email address or the enrolling parent’s phone number when you register.

I know that this is a tough choice, especially with a rapidly evolving situation with the COVID-19 virus. While I can’t predict where we will be in August, I can tell you that the Poplar Tree team will work hard to make any of these options work for our students, staff, and families.

I know that you might have many questions and I am happy to connect with you. Please know that I don't have any additional information to share beyond the above resources. I will be on leave starting tomorrow Tuesday, June 30 and will return on the morning of Wednesday, July 8. Please feel free to email me (seandujar@fcps.edu) with questions and I will answer them when I return on July 8.

Remember Amazing Things Happen Everywhere!

Take care,

Sue Andujar
