I hope you’ve been able to enjoy the beautiful weather this weekend! Please get ready to mark your calendars for a few Question & Answer Sessions:
Superintendent Brabrand has shared information with the community regarding two options for student learning during the 2020-2021 school year. He asked that you please review the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) on the FCPS website to help answer some of your questions. Dr. Brabrand also referred to the Return to School web page for more details on the plans, as well as these links which also explain in greater detail the two Return To School Options:
On Monday, June 29th at 6:30pm, our PTA will host a Zoom session for you to be able to share any questions you may have about your options. Please send our PTA President Megan Laboy your questions at meganlaboy@gmail.com. Please use the subject line: Parent Questions, to help her keep track and gather them for our Monday evening meeting. I will do my very best to answer your questions. We will send you a private Zoom link through eNotify by Monday morning.
The Justice Pyramid Principals have also scheduled two Town Halls to help answer questions. We will hold one of them in the evening on Wednesday, July 1st at 7:00pm and one in the morning on Thursday, July 2nd at 10:00am. I will send you the Blackboard Collaborate Ultra link to those Town Halls through eNotify after our PTA Meeting, to help you keep track of your links. Please have only one member of the family use the link so as not to overload the capacity of the virtual session.
As we navigate these new experiences, please remember that our Beech Tree Community is strong because we keep our students first. Together, we will find the best possible solutions while keeping our students and staff safe.
Although this has been a most unusual and unnerving time, let us continue to create happy memories for our children and ourselves, while getting out in the sun and fresh air. Please let your neighbors know that Kindergarten Registration has continued, thanks to our incredible Mrs. Do! If they have a child who will be five on or before September 30, 2020, please have them contact Mrs. Susan Do, Beech Tree Registrar, at sndo@fcps.eduto make arrangements for specific enrollment information.
Continuation of Learning: Summer 2020
- Begins on Monday, June 29
- K-8 language arts and math workbooks will be mailed to families prior to Monday, June 29th.
- The workbooks will be organized in "sections" so that teachers can communicate which pages/lessons might be focused on for that specific week's office hours.
- Answer guides will also be posted digitally to support teachers and parents.
- Both Math and LA will target essential skills and concepts that review 2019-2020 grade level curriculum and focus on independent student practice.
- Supplemental ESOL workbooks will be developed for ELP levels 1 and 2 to focus on English language development.
