Summer Continuity of Learning – Sessions begin next week!

Summer workbooks are about to arrive for all our FCPS students. They focus on mathematics and literacy skills on classes they took during the 19-20 school year. Students can choose to use these workbooks to review content recently learned. To support this practice, students can sign up to attend weekly office hours with our teachers starting next week on June 29th and until July 30th. Please see the office hours chart at the top of the page.

To register your student for office hours and receive a secure link, please complete this google form. Once registered, your child will receive log-in information via their FCPS Google email address prior to the first session.

Students who already confirmed participation in our summer Office Hours need to check their fcpsschools.net email to see the teacher’s invitation to join their summer Google Classroom. Our teachers can’t wait to see you there!

Need to Speak with a Clinical Staff During the Summer?

Any FCPS parent may schedule a 30-minute phone consultation with a school psychologist or school social worker, for either themselves or their middle or high school student. Consultations provide an opportunity for parents to receive guidance on how to support their child’s emotional well-being during their time away from school. Student consultations will provide support and strategies to students who may be experiencing difficulties with anxiety, mood, behavior, or peer or family interactions during this unprecedented and challenging time.

Note: Parent consultations are available for all grade levels. Student consultations are only available for middle and high school students. Schedule a phone consultation online

Summer Grab and Go Food Distribution

FCPS Grab and Go food distribution will continue using the current schedule through at least June 30. The list of locations is available online. Look for an announcement about food distribution in July and August by late June.

Report Cards in Documents module

Final secondary report cards, in PDF format, were made available in ParentVUE and StudentVUE on Tuesday, June 23 at 6:00 a.m.  For the first time, the Documents module will be available to students and parents.  The report cards can be found under the Documents module of ParentVUE and StudentVUE, instead of linked within the Report Card module. This change was made to allow parents, especially those who opted to “Go Paperless”, to continue to see the PDF report card after SY 20/21 is closed out. A message will be posted in ParentVUE and StudentVUE letting users know where to find the report cards.

If you have any questions, concerns please feel free to reach out to me (pakownacki@fcps.edu) and I will respond to you as soon as I am able.  I am grateful for your ongoing support and encouragement during this challenging time.

Sincerely,

Peter Kownacki Principal South County Middle School
