Summer Learning Virtual Office Hours

Continuity of Learning: Summer Resources
The Summer Practice Books will be coming out later this month, so be on the look-out in your mailboxes. Digital versions of the practice books and the answer keys will also be posted on the Continuity of Learning Blackboard page.
iReady digital lessons through the FCPS public Universal Screener website include skill practice in math and language arts. Students will need to enter their FCPS login credentials to access these resources. These digital activities will be available until Friday, July 31st. Summer BINGO Boards
The Fairview instructional council created a summer BINGO board for our primary and upper grade students to complete this summer. There are a variety of activities across content areas. Enjoy!

4th Quarter Progress Reports
The 4th Quarter Progress Reports are being printed and mailed centrally by FCPS. We anticipate the printed report cards will be provided to the postal service by June 25. Actual delivery to your homes will be dependent on the postal service.

Caring for Our Watersheds
Ms. Trish Wotowiec, Outdoor Learning Teacher, and Ms. April Cascio, Sixth Grade Teacher, led student teams in a learning activity to identify and solve a problem within the Chesapeake Bay watershed. Students created detailed proposals to include budgets. Three student teams decided to enter the global competition.
The results are in! All three teams received a $250 award to be used toward an eco project at Fairview.

Mental Wellness Consultation 2020
The FCPS Office of Intervention and Prevention Services will continue to offer mental wellness consultations throughout the summer. If you have concerns about your child’s well-being or if your child would like to speak with a school psychologist or school social worker, please request a consultation. Our FCPS mental health providers are available to help families get needed support through a 45-minute phone consultation or through secure video conferencing. Appointments are open to all FCPS families.
Consultations are offered in two ways:

Directly to parents of students in any grade level. This consultation provides an opportunity for parents to receive guidance on how to support their child’s social-emotional, behavioral, or academic functioning. Information about community resources will also be made available.

Directly to students in middle or high school. This consultation provides support and strategies to students who may be experiencing difficulties with anxiety, mood, behavior, or peer or family interactions; as well as academic challenges such as organization, time-management, or adjusting to a new school.

2019-2020 Yearbook Update
The yearbook has been submitted to Lifetouch to be produced. We expect to receive the books sometime at the beginning of August. Distribution details will be shared once the delivery is complete.
