A Message from Principal Yacubovich

While this certainly turned out to be a year we will never forget, we must keep in perspective that it was still a wonderful year full of fun and learning. I want to thank you for your amazing efforts during the transition to distance learning. I  recognize that this was not easy for families and I appreciate that you persevered with us through the challenges so that we could continue to connect as a community.

As we head into summer, I encourage you to stay connected. We know that things will continue to evolve as we build our understanding of what structures will be in place for the 2020-2021 school year. While we will all need to be flexible as things change, I will keep the Pine Spring community informed in a timely way. I will do this through our regular News You Choose emails, Virtual Parent Coffees, and direct emails to address questions, concerns and suggestions. Pine Spring is committed to providing an outstanding education in a safe environment for all of our children. We can and will do this together!

Student Material Pickup

We know that there were families that were not able to attend the material pick-up scheduled in June. We will schedule appointments for the week of July 6th-10th so that you can still pickup your materials .Please complete the attached Material Pickup form if you need to do a pickup.

School Supply Kits for Next Year

Once again, the PTA is offering the chance to pre-purchase your child’s school supplies for next year. “SchoolKidz” works to put together the supplies needed based on grade level. This  is a way to make parents’ busy lives a little easier! This is an optional opportunity to avoid the long and uncomfortable lines at the retail stores.

If you would like SchoolKidz to do the shopping for you and deliver the materials to your home the week of August 16th please get your orders into www.shopttkits.com using Account #40216 by  June 20th.

If you have questions, please contact Carmen Clipper at carmenstewartclipper@gmail.com

Parent Coffee

This summer we will provide opportunities for the Pine Spring Community to come together to ask questions or share ideas. If you have questions you would like answered or ideas to share, we encourage you to complete the Principal Coffee Question form in advance. This will allow us to gather the most updated information to address your questions.

Summer Learning Opportunity

FCPS school buildings will remain closed through the end of July. Therefore, we will continue to provide recommended distance learning opportunities for students throughout the summer. Your students will have access to skill practice through the iReady digital lessons through the FCPS public Universal Screener website. Students will need to enter their FCPS login credentials to access these resources. These digital activities will be available until Friday, July 31st

Additionally, students currently in grades K-6 will receive both a Mathematics and a Language Arts Essentials Summer Practice Book in the mail by the end of June. Digital versions of the books will also be posted on the Continuity of Learning Blackboard page. These books will provide recommended practice activities for students to review essential content from the 2019-2020 school year; they are not intended to preview content from next year’s grade level but rather reinforce essential learning from this past year. Practice books will also be posted on FCPS 24/7 Learning Blackboard (Continuity of Learning Resources page - ES) as fillable PDF files on June 29th.

As students access these activities from July 6 to July 31, they will have the opportunity to access 2 Reading lesson and 2 Math lessons each week with staff from Pine Spring Elementary, Timber Lane Elementary, and Graham Road Elementary. Our schools are working collaboratively this summer to provide all of our students an opportunity to learn and grow. If you are interested in participating in our summer learning program, please complete the Summer Learning Series form below by 4PM June 18th.

Summer Tech Support

If your child needs technology support with their FCPS laptop or MiFI device during the summer, please complete Summer Tech Help form. We will work to support you as quickly as we can, but please allow for 3-5 business days.

Behavior Resources for Home

1-2-3 Magic: The New 3-Step Discipline for Calm, Effective, and Happy Parenting is a webinar for families

1-2-3 Magic allows you to get back in charge of your home, enjoy your family again, and help your kids develop their emotional intelligence.

In this presentation, you will learn how to set limits for and connect with your children by breaking down the task of parenting into three straightforward steps:

Get your kids to STOP difficult behavior (whining, arguing, tantrums, etc.).

Get your kids to START doing what you want them to do (picking up, going to bed, doing homework, etc.).

Powerful strategies to reinforce the bond between you and your children.

Presented by Lauren Hawkins and Robin Yuckenberg, FCPS Behavior Intervention Teachers.
