Forestville Updates!

Forestville Updates

Yearbooks

We wanted to give everyone an update on this year’s yearbook order. Due to Coivd-19, the yearbooks have not been able to be manufactured at the normal rate that schools are used to. We have been told that the yearbooks are going to be shipped out to the school around June 24th. We will be working on a distribution plan in the near future and will communicate that plan out to our community.

6th grade Promotion Video

6th grade Parents – we will be sending out a youtube link for the 6th grade promotion video on Friday (6/12) morning at 11:00am. This is not a live blackboard collaborate ultra-link with a live promotion ceremony. Included in the link will be messages from myself, Ms. Arbach and the 6th grade team of teachers. Following the messages from staff, there will be a picture slideshow, with music, that will showcase the wonderful Forestville Class of 2020!

Please be on the lookout for the News You Choose email on Friday morning with the link to view the 6th grade promotion messages and slideshow.

Thursday, June 11th

Thursday, June 11th will be the last day of Distance Learning for elementary students in the county.

For those families who are interested in the extended summer distance learning opportunities, more information will be coming out tomorrow in terms of program details and how to register.

Helping Forestville Families in Need

At Forestville, we have a tradition of helping those in need. At the onset of this crisis, our community generously stepped up to help our sister school, Dranesville Elementary. We also realize that sometimes help is needed even closer to home.

In light of the current economic situation brought on by Covid-19, the PTA has set aside a portion of the PTA's community affairs budget to serve our own Forestville community. We realize that there may be families within our community who are suffering from a financial hardship and could use some support.

We encourage those families in need to reach out directly to Mr. Washington at dawashington@fcps.edu, Ms. Arbach at marbach@fcps.edu or Erin McRae, school social worker at eamcrae@fcps.edu.  As we always do, our community is here to support each other, and we want to make sure that our community knows that there are some supports available if needed. Rest assured that this is a confidential process and the only information that will be shared with the PTA is the specific family "need," not family information.

Please let us know if assistance is needed as soon as possible and by Friday, June 19th, so that we can put a plan in place to support those needs.
