WPHS 20-21 Staffing Updates

Wolverine Community,

As we continue through our last week of school for the 2019-20 school year we wanted to share two staffing updates.  As you may know, Ms. Janice Monroe will be retiring after 26 years of service to the West Potomac community and 30 years of service in FCPS.  In addition, one of our school counselors, and WPHS Alum, Ms. Alma Castro will be leaving as she moves out of state.  While we wish them both the best, we also wanted to introduce our new Assistant Principal and School Counselor.

Ms. Belinda Williams

Belinda is a returning Wolverine who was an English teacher at WP in the late 90s early 2000s.  Although no one can replace our beloved Janice, Belinda will be an outstanding addition to our team.  Here is a brief message from her and you will “meet” her soon.

  • I am most humbled to return to West Potomac, where I began my years as a teacher in Virginia upon leaving Prince George’s County schools.  Originally from Michigan, a proud Howard University Bison, I have been an administrator 17 of my 24 years in education both at the middle and high school levels.   I most recently served as an Assistant Principal at Key Middle School.  I look forward to re-connecting with the students, staff, and community members of West Potomac.

Ms. Stephanie Bluestein

Stephanie Bluestein will be our new school counselor beginning in August.  Stephanie brings to our team six years of high school counselor experience.  She most recently spent a year at Parkway North High School in St. Louis, MO where she served as a college, career and transition counselor.  Prior to that she served as a school counselor at Saranac Lake High School in Saranac Lake, NY.  She is well versed in all aspects of school counseling and has experience as a PSAT and AP Coordinator.  She has experience with Naviance and Google which will help ease her transition into our school community.  Ms. Bluestein holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from SUNY Potsdam and a Master of Education in School Counseling from SUNY Buffalo.  She will be relocating this summer to our area and is excited to begin meeting her caseload this August!  Welcome Ms. Bluestein!
