 Dear Parents/Guardians,
The ending of this school year is bittersweet for sure. Thank you for coming this week to pick up your child’s personal items. If you did not pick them up there will be an opportunity to get the items once we are back in the school building. FCPS school buildings will remain closed through the end of July. Therefore, we will continue to provide recommended distance learning opportunities for students throughout the summer. The activities listed below are not required but suggestions for optional summer learning. Below are some summer learning opportunities from FCPS and Bailey’s:
- Weekly Bailey’s News You Choose learning activities will be sent out each Monday.
- Your students will have access to skill practice through the iReady digital math and reading lessons through the FCPS public Universal Screener website. Students will need to enter their FCPS login credentials to access these resources. These digital activities will be available until Friday, July 31st.
- Students will receive both a Mathematics and a Language Arts Essentials Summer Practice Book in the mail by the end of June. Digital versions of the books will also be posted on the Continuity of Learning Blackboard page. These books will provide recommended practice activities for students to review essential content from the 2019-2020 school year; they are not intended to preview content from next year’s grade level but rather reinforce essential learning from this past year.

As students access these activities from June 29 to July 31, if support is needed, students can access a Blackboard Collaborate Ultra (BBCU) link for office hours. Bailey’s office hours will be held Tuesday and Thursdays from 11:00AM -12:00PM.
As a reminder, our Bailey’s mental health team has social and emotional resources for students and parents on this website: https://baileyses.fcps.edu/baileyscounseling
Grab and go lunch will also continue at Bailey’s from 10:00 am - 1:00 pm. Please come by each day for free breakfast and lunch.
The school office staff remain available by calling the school main office number 703-575-6800 or emailing me at jkeasa@fcps.edu. We are also accepting new student registrations and immunization updates. Call the school office for more information.
During the summer we will continue to send out an academic email each Monday and a newsletter email out each Friday with important information and back to school information. At this point we are waiting for further guidance from FCPS regarding the plan for the 2020-2021 school year. Thank you for your continued partnership and support.

Virginia Department of Social Services Food Assistance
Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) families whose children are eligible for the federal free and reduced-price meal program can receive temporary food assistance from the Virginia Department of Social Services (VDSS). Families will receive a P-EBT (Pandemic Electronic Bank Transfer) for temporary food assistance to cover the cost of meals missed while schools are closed.
https://www.fcps.edu/news/fcps-families-children-eligible-free-and-reduced-price-meals-can-receive-temporary-food
FCPS families can also contact the Office of Food and Nutrition Services at 703-813-4800.
Families may be receiving temporary food assistance money from the Virginia Department of Social Services (VDSS) through a Pandemic Electronic Bank Transfer Card in the next few weeks. FCPS submitted names of families eligible so you do not need to fill a form out to receive the money. Families that currently receive SNAP benefits should have funds loaded onto their EBT cards. Families who do not receive SNAP benefits should receive an EBT card in the mail. Virginia Department of Education and Virginia Department of Social Services ultimately approve eligibility and issue the benefit. Families are encouraged to visit the Virginia P-EBT site to learn more. FCPS families can also contact the Office of Food and Nutrition Services at 703-813-4800.
