Student Item Pick-Up

It is not too late for families to pick up student belongings. You can pick up your child(ren)’s items on Thursday, June 4th between 4:00-6:30 p.m. or Thursday, June 11th between 4:00-6:30 p.m. No appointment is necessary. Please drive up through the bus loop and stop at the door leading to the cafeteria. Please remain in your car. A staff member will approach your car to obtain the student's name and bring your materials to your car. Library books and other books will also be collected during this time. We will also be collecting instruments from 6th-grade students, students leaving Ravensworth, and those students not participating next school year.  Thank you!

Please follow the protocols listed below to ensure a safe, contactless pick-up of your child’s materials:

  1. Staff will be at the school rain or shine.  You may only pick-up materials belonging to your child/children.  Remain in your car at all times.  All staff and parents must wear a mask.
  2. Prior to arriving, please make a sign (written in marker) with the names of your child/children and homeroom teacher/s.  This sign should be visible to staff (passenger side of car).
  3. All student materials will be picked-up in the bus loop (near the door leading to the cafeteria).  Adhere to the directions of staff members and/or signs there to assist you.  There will be staff members asking you to pull your car up, as we do not want traffic backing-up onto Nutting Drive.  In order to assist with the traffic flow please enter Nutting Drive via Gosport Lane.
  4. Staff will place student materials in your car.  Sorry – we will not have time to chat or answer questions at this time.  😊
  5. We will have several labeled boxes along the entrance of the bus loop.  If you have Ravensworth materials you need to return such as library books, patrol belts, instruments, or items belonging to teachers, please pull-up to this area so that a staff member can assist you.  Again, we ask that you remain in your car and open your trunk or back door so we can collect these items from you.  To help us expediate this in a safe manner for all.
  • Please have all teacher materials and/or patrol belts sealed in a Ziploc bag, labeled with the teacher’s name, the student’s name, and grade level.
  • If you are returning an instrument, please make sure your child’s name and grade is clearly marked (and secured with tape or another method) for easy identification later.

Materials not picked up by June 12 will be donated or disposed of. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Erika Aspuria, Principal at ELAspuria@fcps.edu.

Dreambox Subscription Offered to All Students During Summer

Did you know that all Ravensworth Students will have access to Dreambox throughout the summer?  What is DreamBox? DreamBox is a digital math program for grades K-8 that combines a fun and engaging math learning environment with a rigorous, standards-based curriculum. DreamBox lessons are interactive experiences that promote active learning and independent critical thinking and respond to each student’s strategies and decisions in the moment. This enables DreamBox to individually tailor the instructional experience for each student based on the strategies they use when working through lessons. Because DreamBox dynamically adapts lessons and learning paths based on the needs of each learner, students always have just the right level of support when and where they need it.

Dreambox works best if students log in and play with consistency.  Dreambox researchers have found that students that play five or more lessons per week achieve significantly more growth on average when compared to students who play fewer lessons or less frequently. Since DreamBox is personalized to each learner based on their strategies and understanding, it’s important to let your child work through lessons within their own account. Children should finish every lesson and persevere.  Encourage your child to use in-lesson feedback and support for help.

Students will use their computer login and password to access Dreambox. They can find Dreambox by locating the Ravensworth website and selecting Student Learning Websites page.  Ask your child's teacher if you have further questions.
