SW Spotlight
By Kristen Licciardo
According to Mary Jo Davis, our FCPS Coordinator of Social Work Services, social worker’s practice and passion is built on the foundational ethical principles of challenging social injustice, respecting the inherent dignity and worth of the person, and helping people in need to address social problems. We condemn the violence against African Americans and the systemic racism that is pervasive throughout our society. As school social workers, our role is more critical than ever to challenge the inequities and to make sure all voices are both heard and respected.
Please review this New York Times article (June 3, 2020) that discusses how to talk to children about racism and offers multiple book ideas and resources for parents.
