 Fourth Quarter and End-of-Year Grading

Based on recommendations from the Virginia Department of Education, FCPS students will not receive grades for the fourth quarter. Also, students’ grades and advancement to the next grade level will not be negatively impacted by the state-wide closure of schools.

For middle school and high school students, based on demonstrated proficiency of fourth quarter learning, a student’s final grade(s) may be increased from the grades earned in quarters 1-3.

For elementary school students, achievement, effort, and life skills will be determined by all content taught and assessed during the third quarter through March 13. Based on demonstrated proficiency of fourth quarter learning, a student’s final mark(s) may be increased. For all students, no grade will be lowered based on distance learning participation. Virginia: Educación en Radio

The Virginia Department of Education is pleased to announce a partnership with Radio Poder WBTK 1380 AM — a Richmond Spanish-language station — to launch “Virginia: Educación en Radio,” the commonwealth’s first bilingual radio learning program. “Virginia: Educación en Radio” will feature prerecorded lessons in multiple subject areas to support continuity of learning for Spanish-speaking students in grades K-12 while schools are closed to slow the spread of COVID-19. “Virginia: Educación en Radio” will air instructional content Monday-Friday from 10:30-11 a.m. Programming on Fridays will focus on resources, activities, and educational tips for families. A replay of each week’s lessons will be available on Saturdays from 4-6:30 p.m. For more information visit the VDOE Partnership with Spanish-Language Radio Station Supports Learning for Students and Families website.
