To My Students, the Woodley Hills Class of 2020:

You will go down in history as the class who ended their time at Woodley Hills from your own homes. This is definitely not the way that any of us wanted for you to end your time here. It seems as if it was just yesterday that I met each of you during open house and talked about how many exciting things you were going to get to do this year. No you didn’t get your sixth grade day with bowling, kickball, and a dance, but you have had so much more to be grateful for. You began your journey 7 years ago as 5 year olds who didn’t know much at all, to where you are today, smart, friendly, and ready for anything.

I am extremely proud of all of your accomplishments this year and am extremely grateful that I have had the chance to work with each and every one of you. You have all made me a better teacher and opened my eyes to so many things. While online learning is not the best way to teach, I do want to say that this form of learning has provided a platform for everyone to share and learn in a way that works best for them. I have enjoyed getting to know so much more about each of you as you share your likes, dislikes, animals, homes, and even your blankets you hide under while we learn.

Don’t look at this as an end of anything, this is just the beginning of your journey. Whitman is lucky to get each of you and I can’t wait for you to blossom even more next year. As you move on, don’t forget the friendships you have made, the memories you’ll never forget, and the learning that has made you the people you are today. Always be you and work to your fullest potential. Never give up and know that you will always have someone in your corner if you ever need it.

One last thing that will forever be just yours….you are one of the only sixth grade classes to NOT get beat by the teachers in kickball and remember there ain’t no party like a Woodley Hills party. Good luck next year and in the future.

~Ms. Miller
